Angie's POV

Angie, we need to talk. Bast says. "I'm a bit busy." I whisper. It's urgent Bast yells in my head. Fine. I tell her. I slip away from all the yelling, food throwing girls and run out the back door. I go straight to the garden once I'm sure no one sees me. I close my eyes and summon Bast. When I open my eyes, Bast is standing in front of me in a glowing green holographic form. "What is it?" I ask. "I was actually having fun for the first time in a while."
Bast rolls her eyes. "You need to listen. There's something about Ms. Hampton I didn't sense before. She is starting to suspect something about you." "Suspect what?" I say. Bast shrugs. "That you are different." That got me. "She's always known I'm different. I don't care." Bast shakes her head. "It's time I told you this. She is the sister of the woman who created the Bast Serum." I gasp. "What?" Bast nods. "Yes. And she's coming to visit in five months." I take a step back. This can't be happening. "you seriously waited three years to tell me this?" I say. "I'm sorry." Bast says. "I guess that's alright. But you need to warn me about these things." I say. All of a sudden I feel a sharp pain in my chest. I collapse to the ground. "what the heck is going on?" I scream. "calm down. you're transforming. Just breathe." Bast says calmly. "I didn't remember it hurting this much." I say. Slowly the pain goes away. When it's gone, I'm not myself anymore. I'm in the form of huge tiger. Seriously? Get me back to normal right now! I scream in my head. "Just focus on becoming yourself again. We've been through this before." Bast says. I close my eyes and picture myself as a human. As the normal me. within seconds I'm sitting back on the ground. "Angie?" I quickly get to my feet. Tanner is standing right in front of me. "Did I just see you turn into a tiger?" he asks. "And what is that glowing green thing behind you?" I glance at Bast. "It's nothing." I lie. "Well it's obviously something! Tell me!" I sigh. I've kept this a secret from him for to long. "I can explain all of this." "Good." Tanner says. "Because I am freaking out right now." We sit down and I tell him everything. About the attack, me discovering my powers, Bast teaching how to use them, the Bast serum, and Dr. Sampson finding the serum to put Bast to sleep. when I'm  finished, Tanner is silent for a minute. "We've been dating forever and you never told me." I knew this would happen. "Tanner, I couldn't  tell you. Hardly anyone knows. And if I told anyone, they wouldn't believe me." Tanner stands up. "We can fix this you know. my dad is friends with a great surgeon. they could help." "what's that supposed to mean?" I ask. "I mean we could get rid of this! get you back to normal. Isn't that what you want?" "That's not what I want Tanner! When this happened the old me died. I'm not exactly Angie anymore. I haven't been for four years." Tanner takes a step back from me. "so our entire relationship was a lie." he says. "Everything you ever told me was coming from that thing?" he points to Bast. "no it wasn't! That was me! I just couldn't tell you about her." I sob. "Who else knows?" He asks. "My parents, Teresa, Ida, Maria, and Dr. Sampson." I tell him. "Are you sure there's no cure?" he asks. "no. when I first got my powers I tried everything. This isn't a disease Tanner. Whatever I have is part of me now. I can't get rid of it." Tanner looks me in the eye. I recognize something in him I've never seen before: Hate. "What powers do you have?" That surprises me. "Telekinesis, telepathy, the ability to turn into any type of cat, and green fire." Tanner nods. "OK." "Tanner you can't tell anyone! the person who gave me my powers is hunting me down and she'll find me for sure if you tell." "I won't tell." he says. I sigh in relief. "But we're through." he tells me. "What?!" I scream. "We're over. for not telling me sooner and for refusing to find a way to get rid of this." "What do mean this? If I lose my powers I'll die and so will Bast!" "Who cares anymore." he says. "I don't want to see you ever again." He takes off down the road and doesn't look back. I crumple to the ground shaking with sobs. he dumped me. Bast sits down next to me and lays her hand on my shoulder. "Never let me fall in love again." I whisper. "I promise." Bast says. I wish Ida was here. or Teresa. But I have no idea where they are and I'm to heartbroken to look for them. I stay there the rest of the night crying. with no one but Bast to comfort me.
