"Eita," I furrowed my eyebrows together as my name was called. "Eita, wake up." I slowly opened my eyes, blinking them as I yawned. My eyes averted to Konan as she smiled down at me gently. "Good morning, Eita." She greeted.
"Morning," I greeted back before sitting up. I yawned before rubbing my eyes. "What time is it?"
"It's 1 in the morning. You overslept again." Konan answered with a small giggle. I glanced at her with an emotionless gaze before reaching over and grabbing my eyepatch, placing it over my right eye.
Once I had it on, I got out of bed and put on my shoes. "Where are you going?" Konan asked. "On a walk." I answered. "Would you like me to-"
"That's okay, thanks." I interrupted her before leaving the room. I walked down the hall and made my way towards the exit, walking through the living room. "About time you fucking woke up!" Hidan said.
I ignored him as I walked towards the exit. "How'd you sleep?" Kisame asked. I didn't answer and walked out of the hideout, heading towards the woods.
I walked over to a waterfall and splashed some water on my face to wake myself up. I blinked my eyes when I heard a twig snapped behind me and glanced back. "Who's there?" I said before turning around.
A deer stared at me with its dark eyes as its ears twitched. "Oh, it's just you, Ginger. Tell me, did you follow me here?" I asked, holding my hand out to her. She slowly approached me and sniffed my hand.
Ginger was the name I gave this deer when I first entered Akatsuki. Whenever I went on my daily walks, this deer would follow me and watch me. After three weeks of following me, I decided to name it 'Ginger'.
I gently petted her head as she continued to sniff my hand until we heard another twig snap from afar, making her jerk her head up. "It's okay, girl. It's probably just a squirrel in a tree or something." I assured her
I gently stroked the fur on her neck and looked in the direction she was looking. "Eita!"
Ginger quickly ran off when Tobi came running over to me. "Hello, Tobi." I greeted in a bored tone. "Tobi's been looking for you everywhere, Eita!" He said. 'I just left the hideout. I wasn't even gone for that long.' I thought.
"Is there a reason you followed me, Tobi?" I asked. "Oh, yeah! Tobi wanted to give you this! Surprise!" He cheered, taking out a cupcake with a purple candle on it. "A cupcake?" I asked, looking at him with a bored expression.
"Why did you come all the way out here just to give me this?"
"Because it's Eita's birthday!" Tobi said. "My birthday?" I repeated. "Yep! Eita's turning 19 today!" Tobi tilted his head to the side a bit. "Did Eita forget?" Tobi asked, in which I shrugged. I actually did forget it was my birthday. I surprised that Tobi remembered.
"Make a wish, Eita!" Tobi said as he lit the candle. "I'm a little old for making wishes, Tobi." I stated. "Aw, but Eita has to make a birthday wish, Eita! It's a birthday tradition!" He said. "If it'll get you to shut up, then fine." I mumbled.
I made a wish, then blew out the candle. "What did Eita wish for, Eita?" Tobi asked. "That's none of your business." I said. "Please tell Tobi! Tobi can keep a secret! Tobi's really good at keeping secrets! Tell Tobi!" He begged, hugging me.
"Get off of me!" I snapped as I pushed him away. I pushed him a bit roughly than I intended and he fell to the grass. "I'm sorry. I was out of line," I apologized. I grabbed his hand and helped him to his feet. "I just don't like to be touched, that's all."
"It's okay, Eita. Tobi understands. Eita is still getting used to being in Akatsuki." He said, dusting the dirt off his cloak. It's been six years since I've joined Akatsuki. Even though it's been that long, I'm still not used to being in this place. Actually, I'll never be used to it. Not to this shit hole of a place
"But Tobi's curious about what Eita wished for." Tobi mentioned. "It's none of your business. Just let it go, Tobi." I said, quietly. The birthday wish I made... was to be reunited with Naruto.
Konan's POV
I watched Eita and Tobi from afar as I hid behind a tree. I gave a worried look as I stared at my pupil. "You need to stop worrying about him, Konan," Pein said as he walked over to me from behind. "If Eita says he's fine, then he's fine."
"He says, he's fine. But I know he's not. We took away his happiness. We took him away from the people he loved." I said. "We did what we thought was the best for the boy. There's no use turning back now." Pein mentioned as he stood beside me.
"We basically forced him into joining Akatsuki. Pein, every time I look at Eita, he just looks so miserable. And every time he looks at me, he keeps reminding me of what we... what I did." I said. Pein looked at me, then at Eita and Tobi.
Eita hasn't been adjusting too well to Akatsuki like I had hoped. He doesn't get along with any of the members and spends most of his time locked up in his room. Eita doesn't even look at me in the eye when he speaks to me anymore.
He hates me. I know he does. How could he not. What I did to him... is entirely my fault.
Eita's POV
"What's wrong, Eita?" Tobi asked as I looked at the waterfall. "I'm fine. I just... want to be left alone for a while." I said. "But-"
"Just leave me alone, Tobi. Get out of here." I said as my back faced him. Tobi stood there for a second before leaving.
"Naruto... I want to see you again. You have no idea how much I miss you. All I want... is to hold you like I did back then. But as long as I'm stuck in this place... That dream is impossible." I whispered.
