Sam had to get up half an hour earlier than usual if she wanted to get to school in time. This was after she went to bed way too late because she couldn’t choose what to wear today for her date with Ace. Which caused her to have a very restless sleep, stressing about that date.
Reluctantly Sam dragged herself out of bed, taking a quick refreshing shower. Deciding she wasn’t going to do anything special with her hair, she just let it air-dry so her brown locks would get some more volume, instead of hanging flat against her face. Since she was so bad with the whole make-up thing, she kept it simple, cover stick to hide the lack of sleep that was showing under her eyes, some mascara, a small black line under her eyes and some strawberry flavored lip balm. Anything more would end up in her looking like one of those toddlers in that pageant show on TV.
For her clothes Sam chose a jeans skirt ending two inches above her knee, with some dark leggings underneath and her flat black knee length boots. Her top had a bit more color, as it was a checkered blouse in dark pink and black, with short sleeves. Wearing a dark cardigan over it against the possible cold, but letting it hang open so you could still see her shirt.
Standing in front of her mirror Sam tried to look at the outfit from all angles, hoping she looked good or even fabulous. She still wasn’t totally convinced of her choice, but it would have to do because there was no time to change now. Hurrying down the stairs and out the door, she had to run to catch the bus. Reaching the corner of the street she was just on time as the doors opened right in front of her.
Sam quickly made it to the back of the vehicle and sat down on the edge of the seat, not wanting accidentally to sit on gum or something grose. Quickly putting in her iPod, hoping nobody would talk to her. It was a half hour ride, what normally with a car would take only ten minutes, but here she was. Stuck in a bus that hadn’t been cleaned in twenty years and there was always this one person that forgot to take a shower, making the bus smell like a guy’s gym locker. Trying to breath as little as possible and only through her mouth, Sam was on survival mode.
Every time someone got to the back of the bus, she would look up and give them the evil eye. Warning them not to dare to come sit next to her. She hated when people did that. It was always so uncomfortable, trying not to touch each other and every time you did, you would look at each other and give this apologetically smile and feel even more uncomfortable.
Finally they arrived at the school. Sam quickly made her way out without touching any more parts of the bus. She wished she had brought some hand sanitizer with her or another shower would do as well. Stinky, filthy bus!
“Sam.” Timo waved her over. He was already waiting for her, while next to him Cherise and Zack were checking each other’s cavities.
“Hey guys,” Sam greeted them, but Cherise and Zack just kept going at it. This was almost more grose than the bus she just sat on.
Timo hugged her close. “Yes, finally someone who isn’t tongue fighting and can spend all their attention on me,” he exclaimed. “I’ve been here for ten minutes and eight of them, these two.” He pointed to Zack and Cherise who were still oblivious to the world around them. “Have been going at it. Completely ignoring me! You know how much I need attention.”
This made Sam laugh. Timo looked so disappointed. He was even bringing out his puppy look, trying to win some sympathy from her. She wanted to pinch his cheeks he looked so adorable. “Just give me a second,” Sam said as she walked up to the couple. She tabbed Zack’s shoulder and when that didn’t work she just dragged them apart. They looked at her like she was an alien planning for world destruction. “Zack you can choose, you can either drive Cherise to school or you can kiss her all morning,” she told him, secretly hoping she wouldn’t have to take the bus anymore.
