Before she knew it, party time was here. Together with Timo, Cherise and Thomas they made their way up to Kevin’s front door. Inside the house it was insane. The party was in full swing and there were drunk people everywhere. Deciding they needed a drink to get through this, they made their way over to the kitchen.
“So you didn’t get a date?” Sam asked Timo.
“No, he’s busy being a host and all,” trying to convince the others, pretending it was nothing.
“If you say so,” Cherise definitely didn't buy it...
“But hey, now I can be your date, Sam. Maybe then Jack will leave you alone,” turning the attention towards his best friend.
“Yeah right!” Thomas scuffed. “Nobody’s going to believe that.”
“That’s true,” Sam nodded, “But thanks for the offer.”
“Hey, I can be your date for tonight. What do you say about that?” Sam was ready to laugh it off, but the way Thomas was looking at her made her stop. His eyes had a hopeful glint in them, but before she had time to analyze this, Cherise interrupted.
“Hey, you’re my boyfriend,” and playfully hit him. Awkward moment diverted and Sam laughed with Cherise, but Thomas wasn’t laughing and was still looking at Sam. Strange boy.
They walked towards the back of the house where all the action was taking place. It looked like there was a band playing and not just any band, but Jack’s band.
“Oh God! Did any of you know that Jack’s band was going to play tonight?” Sam’s good mood was already turning sour.
Thomas nodded at her, “Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you tell us?” Cherise was starting to get mad at him.
Thomas rolled his eyes in annoyance, “I don’t know. I must have forgotten.” Like he could care.
“Look at it from the bright side,” Timo tried to lighten the mood, “He won’t have the time to bug you, if he’s busy playing.” He made a good point. Maybe this party was still salvable and she could have a good time with her friends.
Thomas and Cherise were already making up again by doing their favorite pastime, sucking each other’s face of.
Timo leaned in to her, “I’m going to get us some refills,” he said in her ear. Sam nodded and decided to do some exploring in the meantime. Just before she wanted to walk away, Jack caught her eye and smiled at her. Quickly she turned her head, to see if Timo wasn’t back with those drinks yet. When she looked back, the band had stopped playing. People were screaming and cheering. Sam had to admit they weren’t that bad.
“We’re going to take five,” Jack practically had to scream through the mike so people would understand what he was saying. He just shook his head and made his way over to Sam. By now she was in panic mode, looking around for a way out. Before she had the time Jack was standing right in front of her. He looked good. Football was paying off, as she could see his six-pack outlined through his white button-up shirt. He had even put his hair up in a Mohawk and put on skinny black pants. Those unfortunately were straining against his massive thighs. As a giant of 6’5” he was packing some meat and not like in a dirty way. She had no knowledge of that.
“So you did come. I knew you couldn’t resist me,” Jack gave her his infamous cocky grin.
“Yeah, you know,” not knowing what else to say.
“Look, I’ve been meaning to ask you something.” He had put his hands in his pockets and started rocking back and forth on his feet.
“What?” She couldn’t help but think that Jack was, well, looking insecure. He wasn’t making any eye contact and kept glancing at his feet.
