He stood outside the door, tapping his legs nervously. He was always like this before parties.

"Can you stop that, Dan?" Phil asked, annoyed as he'd been doing it all the way there.

"Sorry." Dan mumbled in reply and held his hands together in an attempt to stop.

The door in front of them opened and Dodie appeared, giving them each a hug.

Dan smiled widely at her and stepped inside, looking around at the people who had arrived and trying to find the snack table.

Suddenly, the world seemed to stop turning for a moment and all of the planets aligned.

Stood in front of him, looking as flawless as she did that night, was Tessa.

Beautiful, stunning, radiant Tessa.

He started walking towards her, unaware of the world around him. People were greeting him, Dodie and Phil were asking him what he was doing, but he ignored them.

He couldn't hear them because all he was focused on was Tessa, the girl from the party that he knows nothing about.

Just as it was on that night, she walked towards him too and they met in the middle of the room, unaware of anyone around them.

"Tessa." Dan breathed, amazed that she was stood in front of him.

"Dan." Tessa replied, a smile creeping over her dull maroon lips as her green eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.

He'd found her. He'd actually found her. And she was just as beautiful as he remembered.

"Hi." He mumbled awkwardly, unsure of how to start a conversation with her.

She giggled at his awkwardness. "Hi."

"H-how are you?"

"I'm, er," She started, searching for the right thing to say. "yeah, I'm good."

"That's good." Dan smiled down at her.

Despite the fact that he was being the most awkward he'd ever been in his life, the energy between them didn't feel awkward. It was electric and full of desire.

"You're really cute." Tessa blurted out, almost unaware she'd said anything at first. Her face went a light shade of pink and her eyes widened. "I mean, I never got a chance to tell you the other night." She said in an effort to save herself from the hole she was digging.

Dan didn't notice that she'd slipped up, though and took the complement.

"Thank you." He replied. "So are you."

"I know," She giggled. "You told me before, remember."

They smiled at one another with so much longing, that everyone around them dare not interrupt.

Their eyes were glued on each other and not once in the time they were stood there did they drift off of one another.

Dan saw the light shade of green in her eyes that he couldn't see through the darkness of the other party.

He saw the life and energy she gave off more clearly in the brighter light and decided in that moment that whatever happened, he needed to be with her.

Whether as friends, or something more.

"Tessa?" Dodie called out, trying to get some sense out of her best friend.

"Dan?" Phil sung, about to walk over to him, when Dodie stopped him.

"Leave them." She whispered, looking into his sea green eyes.

"Why?" He enquired, unsure as to why Dan was talking to this stranger. "Who's he talking to?"

"That's Tessa, Phil." Dodie replied, mentally facepalming at her raven haired friend.

"Oh my god!" Phil exclaimed, putting his hands over his mouth. "How did I not realise?!"

"Because you're jealous of your boyfriend flirting with someone else?" Dodie grinned jokingly, earning a small shove from Phil, who smiled back at her.

"Shut up." He muttered. "So, how have you been?" Phil began awkwardly and distractedly.

Dodie pointed to a small table and chuckled. "The food's over there."
