I found Yael after school.
"Yael wait!" I called to her. She spun around.
"Hey Olivia. What's up, is it Hunter?" She asked nervously.
"No, no he's okay. From what I've heard you really helped him." I smiled."He just needed a friend and he really wanted to talk to me." She shrugged.
"Well it means a lot. Do you think you are going to see him again?" I ask."I don't know, I'm still thinking about it...I mean I'm pretty busy with...Tech class." She explained, her phone was buzzing frantically in her hand. I watched it light up with notification after notification.
"Right Tech class...Did you really make that app?" I asked.
"Yes! Isn't it amazing?" She smiled and then looked down to scroll through her alerts.
"No...not really." I replied shaking my head.
"What?! I worked hard on it!" She said offended."This post about the cheating boyfriend in 11, it has 200 agrees, who wrote it?" I asked. On the app people could agree with a post, this one had quite an active response which made me more anxious.
"I don't know? How would I know?" She stuttered looking around.
"Because you're the creator..." I answered."Yes but I created it to be anonymous so it was a safe space for people to talk about their worries and feelings. If even I knew, it wouldn't be anonymous." She explained.
"Well, what you have actually created is a war zone where people can hide behind their screens to hurt others by their opinions and gossip. I mean, have you seen the criticism about Frankie?!" I showed her some posts by scrolling down the app on my phone.
"It's not my fault, she should never have created that hurtful banner." Yael defended.
"I know she made a mistake but she doesn't need this." I disagreed. Frankie was still my friend in all this and I couldn't stand people saying hurtful things about her.
