I woke up the next morning to a knock at my bedroom door.
"Yeah?" I asked. The door was pushed open and in came a tray with my dad attached.
"I went out and bought you breakfast in bed. For cleaning the house. Hope you like it, and there's coffee, and orange juice, no bits like we like it." He smiled resting it on my lap."Dad? You okay?" I ask questioningly. This was sweet but very out of character.
"Yeah! I have nothing else to get up for, why not let it be for my daughter." He smiled and I opened the paper bag to reveal the best smelling pastry. I let my worries drop to let myself enjoy the moment. I smiled at him happily. After that I got ready, I put on a jacket and headed outside. MY dad had stood by the door waving me off like it was my first day. Miles had driven me to school. He'd been quiet in the car because I knew he was treading carefully.
He turned to me everntually and asked "How was he this morning? He seemed okay at the door."
"Okay." I replied. "It was great, actually."
"Really?" Miles sighed relieved but not convinced.
"Yes! Why do you think I'm lying?" I asked."Well considering you thought he wouldn't come out his room and that we hired cleaners, I'm aloud to be wary." He points out.
"You, ordered those cleaners, and as thankful as I am, I won't be needing them again, we don't need them. Dads okay I promise." I replied.
He raised an eyebrow at me "You don't need them because you keep everything in check. Imagine never having to worry about it again. Come on, remember yesterday." He persuaded.
As much as I wanted to forget the state of the house, which the people managed to clean in less than two hours, it did open my eyes a bit. But me and dad just had a moment. He bought me a freaking breakfast.
"I'll think about it okay?" I nodded at him. To keep him happy.
"I put the number in your phone anyway." Miles informed and I half smiled at his helpfulness. We got out the car and walked hand in hand into school. Im so glad we had talked. I felt reassured and close again. It was nice to be relaxed with him, he felt normal despite the unpredictable mess.
In class, I sat down in my seat next to Frankie.
She smiled at me and I looked away. I hadn't seen her since she stormed off yesterday telling us all to 'go to hell'. I went to say something to her but the teacher spoke up.
"Okay class hand in your essays." He instructed. I felt my stomach clench as I remembered the homework.
Sir went between the rows of us collected the papers when he finally came to me.
