There was no point in even trying to go to sleep before Joe did. No matter how hard he tried, he was always a bit loud when he came into bed, and you couldn't get to sleep easily without him beside you anyways.

So, with the "resurrection of his gaming channel", as he called it, you had found yourself awake quite late into the night, watching Netflix or just entertaining yourself in the living room of the flat.

You really didn't mind. It made you happy to see him gaming again; it had been your idea to get him back into it.

You remembered the old days of him playing games in his room whilst you all were dating, but unknown to his viewers. You would just lounge on the bed while he played, hidden behind the green screen.

He was always so animated when he explained games to you, and you loved to see him so excited and happy over something.

Things had changed slightly. Now, with a whole shared flat, there was no reason for you to be in his office whilst he played. The videos seemed to take a bit longer when you were outside the door.

You missed him.

As if on cue, you heard the office door open, Joe's feet pattering along the hardwood.

"Done already?" You asked quietly, perking up.

"Not yet love. I think I'm gonna do one more episode tonight. Just needed a bit of a break, I shouldn't be too long, and then we can go to bed. I'm gonna make a cup of tea, you want one?" He spoke very quickly as he walked.

He was on edge, like he usually was after a game.

"Yeah, that sounds great actually," you grinned, wrapping your blanket around you like a cape and shuffling towards the kitchen.

You pulled him into a hug once he'd put the kettle on, and he squeezed you back, but you could feel him trembling ever-so-slightly.

"Babe, you're shaking," you murmured.

"Just a scary bit in the game is all. I'll be alright." His voice didn't do much to convince you.

"I never remember your games getting to you like this before. Is this one just that bad?"

He was playing Residential Evil 7, and you knew it was scary, but it wasn't supposed to be as bad as outlast.

"It's not that bad, really. I think it's cause I've got new headphones that make everything louder, and I haven't played in a while. Plus, you aren't in there," he trailed off a bit at the end, turning to pour the water and drop in some tea bags, making yours the way you liked.

"What does me being there have to do with it being scary?"

"I dunno, it just helps I think. Knowing you're there. Wow. I'm an actual baby, aren't I?" He groaned slightly, ducking his head.

You chuckled at him, trying to seem nonchalant, but your heart was bursting.

It was always the little things with Joe- when he covered you with a blanket at night, or gave you a quick peck on the forehead during a vlog. It was his small admissions of how much you actually meant to him that left you feeling all warm and fuzzy.

"I love you," was all you said, leaning up to kiss him.

He pulled you tight against him like he always did, and you knew it was his way of reciprocating.

When you separated, you took his free hand, leading him back to his office.

You sat your tea on the floor for a moment before cozying up in the beanbag corner, cuddling under your blanket and picking your mug back up, warming your hands.

He looked over at you with a smile before coming over to kiss you again.

You could see his appreciation on his face before he sat his green screen back up and carried on playing. You finished your tea, laying down across the bags so you could see his screen and watch what he was playing.

The day caught up with you quickly, and you felt yourself drifting off, despite Joe's cries of fear and constant commentary from the game.

Eventually, you felt his warm hand on your waist, shaking you awake.

"C'mon to bed love," he murmured, but you felt as if you weighed a thousand pounds, your limbs heavy with sleep.

You reached up for him, and he helped you stand before grabbing your thighs and lifting you up. You wrapped your legs around his waist, clinging to his warm body since you'd left the blanket in the office.

He carried you to your room gracefully, sitting you down on the bed. He tossed you a shirt of his and you stripped down to your pants before sliding it over your head and climbing under the covers.

"Thank you," he whispered to you, and you hugged him closer.

His skin was so warm, and you pressed against him as much as you could. His hands found your waist, trailing to your lower back and holding you close.

"You're welcome babe. Glad I could help calm you down," you kissed his collarbone, as it was the closest thing to your lips.

He relaxed, and it gave you a bit more wiggle room to press kisses along his neck, up to his jawbone.

"I wouldn't call you current tactics calming," he said, his voice husky.

His hands traced over your skin like the usually did at night – his weakness was you in one of his shirts. You felt his fingers toy with the hem of the fabric before sliding under it, running along your sides, leaving trails of fire.

"Are you too tired?" You asked. It was half past 1 in the morning.

"Are you joking? Have I ever been too tired?" He teased, grabbing your hips and pulling you on top of him with a chuckle before going to work.
