Chapter 14; Mario Kart

**Katie's POV**

After school I got all of my stuff out of my locker and started to walk home. It was a nice day so I went to the park for a while. I was listening to music and doing my homework under a tree.

I was focused in my French when I heard footsteps and saw someone sit down beside me at the corner of my eye. I didn't really want it to be Hayes cause he kind of pissed me off today. I started to say "ok if you want to talk I dont so why don't you just" then I looked up and saw Matt and Cameron. They were just sitting there with they're legs crossed an smiling like idiots. Weird.

"oh haha sorry" I said "that's ok, whatcha doin?" Matt asked me. "stupid french" "ahh" Cameron said "let me help" he scooted closer to me and Matt looked down at his phone "oh I got to go guys, last minute football competition" "alright bye" Cameron said.

We got finished with our home work and Cameron asked me why I said what I did when they came. "well earlier I was trying to make a new start with Gracie and-" he cut me off "oh. Yea. I wouldn't try, Nash invited me to his place. Wanna go?" "but won't Hayes be there?" "nope, he has practice with matt" "ohhhhhhhhhh.... Ok let's go!" we both smiled and was walking to the Grier house.

Nash, Cameron and I were all playing Mario Kart on Nash's PS3. It was pretty fun until the front door opened and slammed. Hayes came downstairs and emmediately saw me and gave me a weird look I heard Nash and Cameron say "ohh" under they're breathe. "umm I think I should go now" I started runnin up the stairs and through the door. I just realized that I left my stuff at the park so I flipped out and started sprinting. I think I heard someone say my name. But it wasn't as important as my homework being taken. Wait..... MY PHONE!!!!!

**Hayes's POV**

For the rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about what happened in home room. At the end of the school day I went up to Chelsea and just let it slip "Chelsea. I'm breaking up with you. I have lost all feelings for you and respect" I turned and started to walk away and felt most of the tension fall of my shoulders. But I still am worrying about Katie.

After football practice I walk how and went downstairs to see Nash, cameron, and.... Katie all playing Mario kart. I dropped my stuff and they all turned and saw me. Katie just got up and left. I needed to talk to her so I still had my jersey on and stuff and so I put on some deodorant and cologne and run after her. I lean out the door and I see her already half- way down the street and so I scream out "Katie!" why is she running away???

She went all the way to the park and finally sat down under a tree. I sat down next to her. I asked her why she was avoiding me and she said that she left her stuff here with her phone so that's why she ran so fast. It was an awkward silence so I decided to break it "i.... Uh...... broke up with Chelsea..." she shot her head and started into my eyes. I closed mine and leaned forward.

**Katie's POV**

He broke up with gracie! I shot him a look and we were just staring into each others eyes and then he closed his eyes and started to lean. I closed mine and leaned in also.
