"Aurora Blackthorne-Goldstein"

Walking slowly towards the wooden stool as my name gets called out, my heart hammering inside my chest, butterflies fluttering viciously. I refrain from jolting in shock as a voice calls out in my mind as the tattered old hat is placed on my head. I feel the subtle whisperings of a breeze flowing through my mind... Is this what it feels like to have your mind read?

Ah I've rarely had a student be aware of my going through your mind. A natural affinity for legilimency and taught to control it at a very young age... very young for a witch or wizard. You are an extremely loyal individual hm? A kind hearted soul... Hufflepuff? Oh but you are also courageous yes and brave, Brave? Me? Merlin no thats a mistake, no it is not a mistake I can see it here all in your mind... Hmmm where to put you, your intelligence and creativity, the yearning to learn more would fit you very nicely in Ravenclaw...

My eyes drift towards the table with the blue and bronze banners hanging above them, a symbol of an eagle depicted on them... you have traits that would fit you quite well in the house of snakes... I look over at the table with the green banners with a snake hanging above it, most the students however looked grim and I let out a little giggle at their expressions.

but your bravery and courage would fit you in Gryffindor... My eyes now drift to the table right next to the Ravenclaw table, red and gold banners hanging above it, a lions depicted on them, the three boys from the train looking at me in apprehension... For the first time in I have found a student who exhibits all the qualities and traits of each of the houses... you will have to decide... I widen my eyes in shock and look behind me at the headmaster in confusion. He looks at me knowingly and a twinkle appears in his eyes as he leans forward on his elbows, his palms pressed together as his fingers rest against his mouth.

Turning back around, I rack my brain for the information on each of the houses, and my heart begins to speed up abnormal fast as I hear the whispers of the students as they look at me with confusion... Do not worry about the other students, you take all the time you need but let me help... which of the houses most appeals to you? Ahh well Hufflepuff they are sweet... and that was father's house, I do not think I am brave... I cannot think of living with people like those my biological parents associated themselves with ...So no to Slytherin? 'Yes no to Slytherin, I say to the hat in my head. Ravenclaw seems like a good fit for me and at least I wouldn't be surrounded by blood-prejudiced people... so you have decided, very well then...

"Ravenclaw!!!" The hat bellows out and I look at boys, looking at me sadly from the Gryffindor table, with a reassuring smile as I walk towards my house. We could be friends even though in different houses... right?

Unfortunately for Aurora, as the year went by, the three boys became more distant, they seemed closer for they were in the same house. It had seemed that once Sirius Black had been sorted into Gryffindor he realised, (or more assumed) that everyone associated with his family were "evil" including Aurora for he had discovered her biological last name.It was hard for her, the first friends she genuinely thought were nice people forgetting about her and as the years went by the boys drifted further from Aurora, consequently making all four except Remus no more than causal acquaintances through classes and James' constant buggering of Lily Evans.

Both Aurora and Sirius had shocked the pureblood community by the being sorted into houses other than Slytherin; Sirius in Gryffindor, Aurora in Ravenclaw. Unknown to all but Dumbledore, Aurora, Lily Evans and Adeline Eve, the sorting hat had not sorted her into Ravenclaw. For the first time in Hogwarts history, the hat couldn't decide for she had equal amounts of all houses within her. Much like Serephina Picquery, the president of MACUSA in the 1920's, she had to choose which house she would be in. Aurelia therefore made an executive decision with the hat to be sorted into the house that favoured knowledge and intelligence. A decision to rebel against her families expectations of Slytherin, but one that they would not be too angry with (a decision that was made partly on her young age of eleven but was never regretted). This however did not change the older Black sibling's perception of her. To him she was still the "evil" pureblood girl who used reminded her of someone from many years ago.

Aurora and Lily Evans although in the different houses became friends in their first year, bonded over the metal sheer enjoyment of studying. Over the years, unlike the boys, who became known from their own group name, 'The Marauders", Lily and Aurora became closer, and soon became the best of friends. Although unfortunately for Aurora, with Lily came Severus Snape who Aurora did not particularly liked, but felt sorry for him as he was obviously in love with her friend. Luckily, Aurora had made other friends, those from her own house, Xenophilius Lovegood and Cressida Alatius, both in the same year as Aurora. Xenophilius, or 'Xeno' as Aurora and Cressida nicknamed him, was often lost in his own little world. Aurora adored his creativity and uniqueness, and the calm aura that surrounding him. Aurora had met Xenophilus one night and could not help but look into his mind. Intrigued by what she saw, she immediately wanted to know him, and luckily enough he accepted her Legilimency, and encouraged her to use it on him, not to restrict herself. A gesture which she received most happily and gratefully, and this further brought them closer, almost as if they were siblings.

Aurora had met Cressida on her first night in her dormitory, immediately the girls bonded and laughed over their names in relation to the solar system. Cressida was a half-blood, her father a pureblood from America while her mother was a muggle-born, although Aurora neither minded nor cared about her friend's blood purity for it mattered to her what was on the inside. Aurora's mind would sometimes wander to the thought of the boys, but often ushered it away for they had ultimately left her.

As the years passed by, Aurora and Sirius would come to not even acknowledge each other in the great stone halls of the Hogwarts castle, acknowledging each other only if other's were present but with a cold, emotionless expression.

Sirius Black grew to be the resident bad boy and heartbreaker of Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. Along with his three other best mates; James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, the mischievous quartet who performed the most extravagant and outrageous pranks, named themselves, The Marauders. Deemed one of the most popular boys of the school, the boys (well mostly James and Sirius) would proudly strut the halls jinxing whomever they wanted. Girls fawned over Sirius' devilishly handsome good looks, and consequently a trail of heartbroken girls followed him wherever he went.

Aurora Goldstein, as she preferred this last name over her original name, grew to be an intelligent and kind young lady, earning herself the role of Ravenclaw prefect in her fifth year in which she had become great friends with Remus Lupin (a friendship which of course Sirius Black did not favour) and became best friends with Gryffindor Lily Evans. Of course when Severus Snape called Lily a "mudblood" in a fit of rage in their fifth year, the fiesty red-head became the third member of the inter-house trio of Aurelia Thorne; a Ravenclaw, Adeline Eve of Hufflepuff and Lily Evans, of course the fiesty Gryffindor. Aurelia had become the best in her year, earning all twelve of her subjects (yes twelve) with an 'Outstanding' in her O.W.L exams at the end of her fifth year. With the mix of beauty and intelligence, many of the Hogwarts students watched her with adoration, admiration, and jealousy, a fact in which she was completely oblivious to.
