I walked in the room. A wave of fresh scented pinecones hit me. Sounds of small talk and "hellos" occupied the room. There was a small stage at the corner, with chairs lined up in rows in front of it.
I went over and sat at the end chair of the second row. I noticed a blue-eyed, dark haired boy sitting in the row in front of me, he turned his head towards me and gave a smile.

"Hello everyone! Welcome to the House of Acting, where we strive to help our students reach their full potential!" The teacher greeted us.

"Today, we will begin our discussion on improvisation and character work. At the end of class, we will practice what we learned thus far by doing a short improvisation scene."

I grabbed my notebook from my backpack and took some notes as she began her lecture. Everyone eagerly listened and took notes throughout the hour.

"Now, let's practice what we know now about improvisation and apply some character work into the characters we are playing in the scene. The scenario is: you are waiting at the train station. Decide by yourselves why you're there. Maybe you're waiting for someone, or you're running away. Whatever it may be, make sure it's specific and do not tell us beforehand."

She gave us ten minutes and disappeared in her office. I looked over at Asa, watching him write. He was so focused and it inspired me to do the same.

Ten minutes later, she came back.

"Excellent! I'm excited to see what you all put together! Let's have the first two up."

She scanned the room, I slid inside my chair hoping she doesn't choose me.

"You, young lady, what is your name?" She pointed at me.

What?

"M-Maya. Ma'am I don't think I'm ready, I've never done this before." I was so nervous.

"Of course you are, please come up for us. Don't worry about a single thing. We are in a learning environment, where mistakes are welcome!" I slowly got up from my chair and went to the front.

"Now one more person, how about you, young man? Tell us your name first." She gestured at a blue-eyed, dark haired boy.

"Asa. Asa Butterfield."

" Asa please join Maya up on the stage."

He walked over to me and we locked eyes. He gave a smile and almost missed his chair as he sat down. I gave a little smirk, trying not to chuckle.

"Lets begin. You know, you guys might thank me for this one day." She smiled as we began the scene.
