"Shit. It's Isabella. I know she has some kind of update for me." I paced back and forth. "What do I do?"

"Call her back and put it on speaker."

She picked up on the second ring. "Hello? Maya?"

"H-hi. Sorry I was-in the bathroom. What's up?"

"Maya, tell me the truth. Where are you? Are you even in town? Police are looking for you. I stopped by your house this morning and you weren't there. Tell me what's going on."

I put the phone on mute. "What do I tell her?"

"Well, do you trust her enough to tell her the truth?"

"Actually, no. Right now I don't trust anyone. Well besides you." I gave a half smile.

I'm still trying teach myself the fact that it's okay to openly express your emotions and feelings, especially to those who care about you and vice versa.

"Then don't tell her. Tell her not to worry and that you're okay. That's it."

"Hello Isabella? Don't worry about me. I'm doing okay. I've just been dealing with family problems. I gotta go. Talk to you later." I quickly hung up.

"Family problems? Really?" Asa laughed.

"Shut up, that's all I could think of."

"Do you even have family in LA?" When he asked I suddenly realized how much Asa doesn't know about my personal life, but this wasn't the right time to give him a whole biography.

"Actually, I don't. Anyways, I have a feeling Isabella's trying to help the police find me, you know? Getting information out of me so she can go tell the police. Maybe I should just get rid of my phone." I was ready to toss it.

"Don't do that. You'll be even more suspicious than you're making yourself seem."

I turned to him. "What do you mean? I'm not suspicious at all."

"Really. You're not..?" He raised his eyebrow.

"I'm trying my best okay? I won't tell her anything that could make me suspicious." There was a silence for a good 2 minutes. Asa turned to me and finally spoke.

"So, are we still on for Sacramento or..?"

I turned to him firmly. "You know what? Why are we still here? Let's leave to Sacramento right now. I'm ready for a new city." I went over to grab my bag.

Puzzled, he grabbed my arm to stop me. "Are you sure? When I asked you it didn't seem like you wanted to go."

I tiptoed so our heights were closer and gently placed my lips on his.

"I'm sure."
