P.O.V Patrick

I woke up in the bedroom Pete's letting me stay in since I lost the house in the divorce to Elisa. I bought the house God damn it. The only thing that's been on my mind for a week now is telling Pete that I'm leaving to go to California... tonight.

In all honesty I've been putting it off. One of the reasons I'm going is obviously because of the fans.. but also because I can't deal with being around Pete right now, hopefully I'll come back with a nice girlfriend.. or I suppose possibly boyfriend but honestly I'm only really bi due to Pete.

I know he won't be happy at all. I've got to tell Brendon too and he won't be any happier. Then I need to tell Joe and Andy and neither will they..

California's over three hours away from Illinois and I don't think they'll be able to visit. To be honest that's why I picked it. I need a little time to get away from the fans, everyone's a celebrity in California and it's quite easy to keep a low profile.

I'll change my hair and my style, I'll become someone new.

"Hey 'Trick!" Pete yawned, opening the door to my room. "He-hey.."

I have to do this now, don't I?

"What's wrong?" He came over and sat beside me in the bed. "Promise you won't get mad?"

"No, of course I won't." He smiled, like he'd never do that, like he'd forgotten our entire past relationship. Coming to think of it, he probably had.

"I'm.. going to California." I mumbled, not looking up at him. "Oh? I'll come with you if you like. How long? A week or two yeah?" I looked back up at him, his smile had faded a little bit like he was planning a hotel and everything already.

"No.. I'm going to California, sorry Pete." I repeated. "That's okay. Just a little break? I understand." Pete was about to get up and leave before I pulled him back down. "I'm moving there." I said quietly, looking directly into his eyes.

He looked away, a pained expression across his face. "Oh.. yeah, right." I placed my hand on his arm and frowned apologetically. "I'm sorry, you can visit you know!"

"It's hours away Patrick, that's expensive.."

"It's not that expensive.."

"It is if I'd come and see you everyday."

"Wh-why would you do that?"

"Cause I'd miss you!" He still wasn't looking at me. I pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back to soothe him. "C'mon, it's okay."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why are you leaving?"

"I want some time to clear my head.."

"Then let me come with you!"

I shook my head, "Pete, I'm going myself." I said, sniffing. I heard Pete sniff a bit too. "Okay.. How many months?"

"I don't know. Until this all dies down."

"Alright.. I'll miss you. When's your flight?"

"T-tonight.."

"That's a bit of short notice to take you out." He pulled away from our hug and gave me a genuine smile. "I'd like that.." I ruffled his hair, laughing slightly. "Then go get ready!"

"I'll need you out first." I winked. "Oh right, yeah whoops." Pete blushed a little as he was walking out.

What a strange dude.

P.O.V Pete

I jumped face first onto my bed. Patrick holy crap you're insane for leaving me. Ugh I'll miss him so much. I'll probably say I'll never visit him and end up getting on a plane by the end of next week.

Dinner.. where should I take him? I want to take him to the freaking fanciest restaurant in Chicago. "PATRICK! DRESS NICELY WE'RE GOING SOMEWHERE FANCY."

"I WAS GOING TO ANYWAY!"

You always do.. I dragged myself off my bed and looked in my wardrobe for something.

In the end I went with white skinny jeans, a plain dark grey t shirt, black converse and a navy blazer. I was about to leave before I saw the black dog chain Patrick got me on the first anniversary of Fall Out Boy. I thought about it for a few seconds and threw it on too.

I got flowers from the vase in the hall and knocked on Patrick's door. He opened the door wearing black skinny jeans, grey military boots, a white dressy shirt, black bow tie and a grey blazer with the sleeves pushed up, revealing some bracelets.

He put on his glasses and burst out laughing when I took the flowers out from behind my back. "Will you be my date for the evening Mr Stump?"

"Why yes Mr Wentz, I shall." He took the flowers and put them back in the vase, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek to play along.

"Where are we going may I ask?" Patrick questioned, getting in beside me in the car. "Best restaurant in town, and then somewhere special." I said mysteriously. "Ooh.. exciting. Well my flight isn't until 6am."

"I thought it was tonight?"

"I bumped it back, it was meant to be at nine."

"If you let me come with you then we could do this every night." I said driving off.

Patrick frowned. "Please visit me some day."

"It's not very likely I'll make it a day without calling you never mind not even visiting you."

He smiled, putting his hand on my leg. "I'm calling you every single day."

"You better."

* * * * * *

"I cannot believe you got us reservations at Algori's!" Patrick squealed. "I knew it was your favourite restaurant and I was going to take you out to cheer you up about the fans."

"Awh! You're such a good friend." He hugged me again. I didn't really want to let go but we had to.

"Right this way sirs." The waiter gestured us over to a table for two by the window.

About five minutes into our conversation a waitress came over to take our order. "What can I get the happy couple?" I looked at Patrick who went bright red, I could feel myself blushing too. "We.. we're not a couple, just best friends." Patrick said softly, taking his hand away from mine.

"Oh! Sorry, you just-"

"We were a couple once though." I added, not wanting her to feel embarrassed. Hey it's the truth anyway.

"Ah, I thought so. You look perfect for each other."

"Th-thank.. you." Patrick mumbled, adjusting his glasses. "Orders?"

"Pizza." Patrick and I said at the same time. The waitress giggled a bit before continuing. "What type?"

"Hawaiian." We said again.

Could this get anymore embarrassing? "Drinks?" She said, trying to stop laughing. "He'll have a coke." I said pointing at Patrick. "He'll ask for a beer but get him a coke too."

I pretended to glare at him like I was mad but I couldn't without cracking a smile.

Oh God, I'll miss him so much.
