*Character drawing of Maeyune Ereni (with silver eyes) by me.*
Twenty years later.
Maeyune ran her eyes over the population below her. The majority of the citizens wore their finest whites and silvers, and their clothing shimmered in contrast to their black hair. At a distance, the people created a writhing distortion of light and dark. They appeared like twinkling diamonds in the streets of the Silver City. The sight enthralled her.
How long had it been since she'd seen this much life? A long, long while, she supposed.
She had appreciated the previous nights of silence at the moon temple, away from the anticipation that had surged across the Silver City. But she had expected there to be excitement. After all, the Suolani were a people of high spirits. Holidays--and anything else that provided an excuse for celebration--were always ostentatious.
Though, Maeyune found the spectacle refreshing and a much-desired respite from training.
A smile danced across her lips, and she cast her gaze to the heavens. The crescent moon above continued its silent watch, a beacon in the darkness.
