Ava kept her mouth shut, or at least I think she did.
'Morning kid' my dad practically yelled as I walked into the kitchen on Monday morning.
'Morning' I was grumpy because I didn't get much sleep.
He chuckled at my messy state. He walked past me to get to the sink and on the way he clapped me on the back right in the spot where the tattoo was.
I flinched so much I knocked the table with my foot.
'Ow shit' I said breathing heavily.
'What was that about' my dad stood over the sink laughing at me.
'You just uh scared me'
I decided to skip breakfast to avoid any other incidents.
--
I saw Finn waiting for me at the gate. A smile threatened to creep across my lips but I didn't want to appear as young something as simple as waiting for me made me this happy.
'Good morning princess' He sounded tired but happy.
'Morning'
We talked all the way down the hall towards my locker, the same routine I carried out everyday just usually alone.
The blonde girl was leaning against my locker as usual, waiting to taunt me.
'Oh hey ugly, you found someone as freakish as you! Congrats hun!' She had a horrible fake pout.
I ignored her and gritted my teeth as I did every other day. I just had to wait for her to leave.
I felt Finn get closer to my back.
'Are you going to let her talk to you like that princess?' He said it so quietly into my ear so the blonde girl didn't hear. His words tickled in my ears.
'Kill them with kindness' I breathed back.
'Fuck kindness, show her what's what' He was still barely Audible but his voice was more stern.
This was so unlike Finn.
'I'd rather have an ugly face than and ugly personality like you' I retorted.
Is that really the best I could think of.
'What did you just say?' The girl raised her eyebrows at me.
'You heard me' I said gaining my confidence.
'There you go princess' Finn said slightly louder.
'I don't think you want to mess with me, chick' She felt the need to inch closer to me as she said each word.
'I think, I can mess with whoever the fuck I want, chick' I no longer felt even a shred of fear, I felt great.
'I-I don't think-' I knew she couldn't finish her sentence so I cut her off to save the embarrassment.
'You don't think what?' I put her completely on the spot.
She turned and walked away. Tripping several times. She was completely flustered.
Her two friends ran after her calling her name. It made me laugh how desperate they were for attention from this girl. She was evil, what did people see in her?
'That's my girl' Finn whispered snaking his arms around my waist.
I got a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach, like a nervous feeling but a happy feeling at the same time.
'Kindness never got princesses anywhere' He said.
---
The word seemed to get around quickly about my bicker with the blonde chick. People were popping out of no where to question me about it. People were being nice to me, like they liked me.
At the end of the day I stood casually against the vending machine waiting for Finn. He was late as usual so the corridor was empty. He turned from virtually out of no where and carried on walking towards me.
He was wearing black jeans, a plain black tee, and over sized jean jacket and vans.
I had to admit he looked really good.
'So princess, I heard about your new found popularity' He yelled from the other side of the hall.
'Oh please' I laughed.
'Promise me you won't forget me when you're sat with the popular kids at lunch' He said pulling me into a hug.
'Hmmm I guess I promise' I said grinning.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I grabbed his hand. We walked away down the empty corridor.
It was like something from a perfect eighties movie.
