Ashton's POV
The crowd erupts completely bringing us back to reality. It was like it was just the two of us throughout the whole performance. Arias vocals as usual were completely out of this world. I looked to aria who had the biggest smile on her face. She looked quite relived that it was over at the same time. We all bowed together and ran backstage, where all the other acts were applauding. I turned to face Aria and pulled her into the biggest hug.'You were amazing as usual. I am so proud of you, you have no idea. I love you so much. Well done.' I gushed, kissing her lips at the same time.
'Thank you for pushing me, I could and would never have done it without your encouragement. I love you more then words could ever express.' She said affectionately.
'Alright Ash give everyone else a chance. You were incredible, well done Aria.' Michael expressed turning to Aria and giving her a hug.
'Whatever the result it, you've done it and you were amazing. Calum just said it looked like when you two had first met. It was like you two only had eyes for each other and nobody else was there. You should be proud of yourself. We are proud of you.' Michael continued. I felt my cheek warm as he reminisced about when me and Aria first met. The best day of my life so far.
'Come on guys they are announcing the result.' I shouted as everyone made their way to the wings.
'In 3rd Place we have Lucille Gordon' the organiser shouted over the crowd. Everyone cheered for Lucille as she took the smallest of 3 trophies and the 3rd place prize which was $500.
'In 2nd place we have Young Brando' a slightly bigger applause from the audience. As the band got up to collected the 2nd biggest trophy and the 2nd place prize, $750. I looked over to Aria who looked disappointed.
'Are you okay babe?' I asked concerned. She nodded.
'I just feel I've let the lads down because we haven't placed.' She explained as she looked at her feet.
'Aria they haven't called the winner yet' I chuckled.
'Don't be silly Ash, I mean you guys were amazing, but I ruined it.' She laughed but being completely serious. I really couldn't believe this girl. How could she not see just how good she was.
The organiser waited for the audience to settle again.
'Okay, this is it, and the winner of this years competition is....' There was a long pause.
Aria's POV
The organiser waited for the audience to settle again.'Okay, this is it, and the winner of this years competition is....' There was a long pause.
'Aria Poynter featuring 5 Seconds of Summer with their song Heartbeat' he screamed into the microphone. I stopped dead in complete disbelief. How was that even possible? I thought to myself as I was being lifted into the air by Ashton and carried to stage, following Calum, Luke and Michael who were cheering ecstatically. It took a few moments to realise what had happened. We had won, seriously how was it even possible. It felt liuke a dream, but it wasn't. We had won.
By the time my brain had registered this information I had tears of happiness streaming down my face. Ashton had put me down when we got to the stage where I was handed the trophy. Seconds later I was being launched into the air by all four lads. I was placed to sit on Calum and Ashton's shoulders and carried to backstage where everyone was cheering. Michael had grabbed the 1st place prize, $1000 and a chance to record and release a song, as they were all distracted in celebrating our win. They all put me down when we had got backstage and shook the other competitors hands. I done the same and well the rest of the guys were deep in conversation I slipped away to get some air.
Ashton's POV
I finished shaking everyone's hands, and looked around to find Aria. She was nowhere insight. Presuming she had gone to the ladies I turned to Michael to tell him to let Aria know I was going to get some air and call my mum. He nodded and continued to converse with Crystal who had been watching with the others in the audience. I made my way outside only to bump into Aria. She was on the phone, she hung up when she saw me and smiled.'You okay?' I asked smiling. She nodded.
'Yeah I was just phoning Doug to tell him what happened, there was no answer.' She explained looking a little disappointed. Little did she know we had the biggest surprise for her. I sent a quick text before turning her around and looking into her eyes, that I noticed were glistening with tears.
'Hey, hey, don't cry. He would be so proud of you right now. I am so proud of you, we all are. You were amazing. You did Aria, you should be proud of yourself.' I explained, pulling her into my arms. I released her and she stayed quiet, as I looked up and saw a figure walk through the door.
'I have a surprise for you' I said spinning her around. I watched her as her mouth dropped, tears of happiness streaming down her face, as she ran into the arms of her twin brother.
Dougies POV
It was Ashton's idea. I had to beg for the time off but they knew how much it would mean to me to see my sister where she belongs, on stage. She had no idea how good she was. When I received that dm on Twitter from Ashton I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I caught the first flight I could that landed at 4pm today, Sunday. Ashton had told me that they were rehearsing until just before the show, so Crystal, Nia and Arzaylea would meet me at the airport. Which they did, and they explained that I'd be a surprise for Aria after the show. I found it so hard to keep it from her. She phoned me straight after Ashton had mentioned the competition. I told her how much I would like to be there but I was so proud that she was even considering it.
Now I had received a text from Ashton saying that they were outside at the back of the venue. I opened the doors quietly and saw them standing there.'I have a surprise for you' I heard Ashton say before spinning Aria around to face me. Her jaw almost hit the ground when her eyes focused on me. She ran into my arms and I lifted her in the air.
'What are you doing here? I can't believe it!' She exclaimed.
'I'm so proud of you little one' I cried, a few happy tears flowing down my cheeks as they did when she was on stage.
'You saw?' She asked.
'Of course I did, I wasn't going to miss it for anything. You belong up there Aria.' I said truthfully.
'I wish Terri and Stephen were here' she said sadly. I turned her face so she was looking into my eyes.
'They both would be so, so proud of you. Look, you see those two stars shining the brightest up there.' I explained pointing to the two stars shining incredibly bright next to each other in the sky. She nodded and I continued
'I believe that's them, and I believe they are shining as bright as they are because you made them. They are so proud of you and that is why they are shining the brightest.' I finished, as I wiped the tears from her cheek.
'Thank you' she said hugging me tight. 'Not just for that, but for being here'.
'Well it was Ashton's idea so I can't take any of the credit. He's a good man Aria, you can trust him. Not that you need it but you have my approval. You know what?' I continued as her eyes met Ashton, before she turned back to listen to what I was saying.
'I think Theresa and Stephen would love him as much as I do. Now go and get your man' I finished, smiling as she hugged me one last time before going to Ashton.
