1 year after Ashton and Aria met. Ashton and Aria are back in LA celebrating Aria's birthday. Bringing her back to LA in Ashton's eyes, seemed like the right thing to do. Aria was feeling a bit guilty that she wasn't around Dougie to celebrate their birthdays together. They haven't ever spent this day apart, but Dougie was quite insistent that she go. Apart from feeling slightly guilty, Aria was quite excited to be celebrating her and Ashton's first year of being together in a special way. She had a surprise for him but she was gonna wait until midnight, that way it would be the day of their anniversary. She was just hoping she would get the reaction she wanted. Little did she know he had a surprise for her too.
At around 8pm Ashton set up the car he had loaned for their stay with the stuff they needed for the evening ahead. 10 minutes later they were off, radio on singing along until they lost signal. At around 9:15pm they pulled into the familiar clearing. Aria had the biggest smile on her face remembering the memories she had with Ashton of this place. It hadn't changed much in a little under a year. Ashton set out the picnic blanket and got the food out of the trunk. Aria just looked at him in disbelief, not able to believe he was recreating the night before everything changed. She felt so lucky to have him in her life. When Ashton was done setting up the picnic, he patted the spot next to him encouraging Aria to sit down. She took her shoes off before she did as he had asked. They ate their food well reminiscing about the past and the day they met.
Aria had her head rested on Ashton's chest when he checked his watch. It was 11:50pm so Ashton got up pulling Aria with him. She was confused until he spun her around to face him, putting his hands on her waist and pulled her close. They swayed for a bit like they done a few months ago just listening to the flow of the river in the background, dancing to each other's heartbeats.
At the stroke of midnight Ashton took a step away from Aria. He grabbed his guitar that he had brought with him, she gave him a puzzled look. He started playing and singing Beside You, the song he wrote about Aria. When he'd got to the end of the first chorus he stopped singing, but continued to play the melody.
'Aria, do you want to know why Dougie was insistent that you came with me on this trip? It was because I asked him first, he knew exactly what I was going to do. You know a year ago today was the day I asked you to be my girlfriend. Things moved fast between us, but I do not regret a moment of it. Since I met you I have been the happiest I've ever been. You love me for who I am and you never try to change me. You laugh at all my jokes even when they aren't funny. You are the most beautiful girl in the world, with the kindest heart and the sweetest voice. I love you more then I can even say. Please will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me.' Ashton said nervously putting down the guitar, getting down on one knee with a ring in a little box in his hand, and a few tears rolling down his cheeks. Aria was gobsmacked, she had tears and she knew what she wanted to say, but couldn't say it until she knew.
'I, I can't believe this. I know what I want to say Ashton but please can I give you something first. We have discussed this before, but this occurred three days ago.' She stuttered, looking him in the eyes. He closed the box with the ring in as she handed him a small box, which was like one a pen might come in. He looked a little worried but went with it anyway. Slowly opening the box to reveal a stick. He looked at it closely and realised it was a pregnancy test. His mouth dropped to the floor as he realised it read positive. He looked back into Aria's eyes as tears were cascading down both of their faces. He didn't know what to do, he was shocked they had only discussed this a few weeks ago. He closed the box and got off the floor, lifting Aria into the air kissing her passionately. I love you so much' he gushed. He put her back down, looking eager to find out the answer to his question. Aria could see in his eyes he was desperate to know.
'Of course i will marry you, you muppet' she chuckled as she was yet again lifted in the air in celebration.
