Song for this section -- Stone Cold by Demi L.

Together, Owen, Tyler, Claire, Zach, and Grey all sprinted through the park. They needed to get to the arrival center. All day they had been evacuating people through fairies to the nearest safe zone. As of now, the last one leaving this island was scheduled for nine.

The sun had already set making their travels ten times dangerous.

Somewhere behind them, Echo was still enjoying her late night meal. Tyler knew that it was possibly the last time she would ever see her friend again. There was no way that she could take the raptor with her to the safe zone. Her entire home was torn apart, and the reptiles had free roam over the island.

Echo didn't need her anymore.

Reaching one of the main tourist areas, the group was forced to stop dead in their tracks.

Directly in front of them, Blue had emerged from the shadows. The Raptor  was all eyes for Owen. So, protectively, Owen put everyone else behind him. "Blue." Owen tried just as he did once before in the training. "Blue- blue calm down."

To their left, another raptor appeared. "Owen." Tyler warned. "Its Delta."

Then, almost as if on cue, Echo had come from nowhere to their right. "Echo..." Tyler breathed to herself. However, Owen's command pulled her back.

"Blue- that's enough! Don't give me that shit! Look at me." The Alpha stepped forward towards Blue. immediately Tyler knew what he was doing. There was still a muzzle on blue, something that meant she was being controlled by humans. That was clearly what this whole revolt was against. Owen and Tyler honestly loved these animals. There wasn't a second that they considered them to be objects that belonged to the park. They were all a family. Even if it was dysfunctional at some times.

"Easy girl..." Owen breathed reaching towards the muzzle. "Easy.."

Tyler always felt uneasy around blue, but it was the same way that Owen felt about her and Echo.

In one click, the muzzle was free of Blue's mouth and Owen had tossed it to the side. "That's it." he smiled.

Tyler let out a sigh seeing the tension between the two back to normal. Then, Echo had stepped forward nudging her nose against Tyler's hand as well. There wasn't a moment that she thought that Echo was going to hurt her. Not a chance.

However, when Zach had reached over slipping his hand into hers though- that was what seemed to catch her off guard.

She looked at it questionably at first, almost as if she didn't believe it. However, when she looked up to a sideways grinning Zach, she couldn't help but return it with a squeeze back. They were going to get out of here, and she would be able to get in a proper goodbye to Echo as well. Echo had let out a hiss seeing her master holding hands with another human, and Tyler couldn't help but chuckle as Zach was forced to let go and back off.

Yes, Echo was a reptile, but this reptile was her best friend for a good chunk of her life. Letting her go, it was never something Tyler thought she would have to do.

With a sad look, Tyler had glanced towards her brother.

The long rifle on his back shimmered in the moonlight. It was a rifle that he had brought home from the military long ago. That's how she was able to pick him out of the crowd. looking at it now though, Tyler knew that there wasn't a time in his life that he would need it more.

In the background the adomonious had emerged onto the gathering concrete.

It hurt her physically, the shift of tone from a happy reunion to something so frightening.
