Zach stared at the statue blankly. It was of her, of Tyler. Whoever designed it, they got every detail down to the dimple on her left cheek. It was the same dimple that had once made his heart beat so fast just by looking at it.
On the plaque was her name, Tyler K. O'Grady.
It was a tribute to the Jurassic World theme park, and those who were brave enough to try and defend it.
She was the main attraction, the main representation. Why? Because of what she gave to save the ones she loved.
What she gave to save him.
It made his heart pang, his hands turn clammy.
Zach's heart was for her and only her, he just hadn't realized it when he should have.
Today was their last time seeing anything related to the Jurassic World up close. Even with their traumatic summer, the boys had to go back to school, they had to go back to their normal lives. They had to carry on, no matter how hard it was.
To his right, Zach's parents were standing tall and proud for what their boys had done. More importantly, they stood with thankful expression towards the girl that helped them get back safetly.
No words were exchanged, nothing could be said.
So, as his father patted his shoulder, he smiled at his parents before watching them walk towards the car.
To his left, Grey stared at her statue as well. "We owe her." He breathed quietly. It sounded almost like a whisper, like he was the only one that was supposed to hear it.
Zach's voice was still gone. He was afraid it would never come back fully, not unless he was saying her name. "I know buddy. I know."
Then, the younger brother's tears started to fall. "I'm gonna miss her."
Fighting back his own tears, he nodded. "Me too."
There seemed to be a bundle of emotions built up inside of Grey, because turning into zach, he wrapped his brother in a hug and cried into his stomach. The tears were quiet, mainly because the people around them. He wanted to be tough, just like she taught him to be- but grey was still a kid, and his head was still broken.
"Go to the Car Grey." Zach sighed patting his hair. "Just wait in the car."
Wiping his arm across his fave, Grey nodded and looked back towards the statue with his tear stained face.
All he could do was force a smile, look to his feet, and do as his brother asked.
The next to take his side was his aunt claire. She was just as beautiful as ever, but the sadness behind her eyes wasn't something that she could hide anymore. That park was her home, those animals were her home, the O'Grady's were her home; and now, everything had changed. "I'm sorry you had to go through this Zach." She tried to console him. "It's my fault."
"No." He shook her away. "Don't be." Then, his eyes were back on the statue. "If I wouldn't have, I never would have met her."
It was true. His experience was a living hell, but it was a life that had her in it. Zach wouldn't have traded that for the world.
Chuckling sadly, Claire put a hand on her shoulder. "And that's how I know you'll be okay. You're a tough kid Zach, a lot tougher than I will ever be."
Then, kissing the top of his head, Claire went towards her car as well.
Finally, Owen stepped up to his side as well. Both were silent at first, eyes studying the statue as if it was the last time they were ever see anything of her again.
"You're a good kid Mitchell. " Owen breathed out. Then, with an even shorter word choice, Owen faced him and gave him a solemn look. "Stay that way."
He as well, moved towards the line of cars.
Now, it was just him. His heart, soul, and eyes took in every ounce of the statue and park residue that he could. This was a summer he would never forget, all thanks to the Jurassic World Experience, all thanks to her.
The warm feeling of a slender hand in his made him smile. The frail fingers laced around his, and soon enough- her chest and shoulder was pressed against his right side. "Come on." Tyler whispered with a smile on her face. "We don't want to be late."
Turning away from her statue, Zach smiled upgrading to the real thing. She was just as beautiful as she was the first day he met her. The long blonde hair fell past het shoulders, her cuts, bruises, and scrapes as clear as day. The girls as bandaged up and moving slow, but she was here with them none the less- in the land of the living.
Tyler fought for her life, and rightfully claimed it back.
Everyone was thankful for it, especially him.
"Yeah." They started moving towards the cars. "You're right."
Ahead if them, Zach's parents, brother, aunt, and Owen were standing together with a smile on their face. This was it, they were finally leaving Jurassic World behind.
It hurt the two trainers more than anyone else would understand, but they were even more thankful to have one another.
The O'Grady's could live without their reptiles, but neither could carry on without each other.
Together they would rebuild her strength, get her back in her feet, and into the education she needed to become a registered exotic animal trainer. It was the closest she could be to her true passion, and she would do everything in her power to get there.
Thankfully, she didn't have to do it alone- not anymore.
The Mitchell's and the O'Grady's would be far apart, but the miles didn't matter anymore. Not with what they had been through, nothing could change how they felt about each other. Not school, not any distance, not time, nor other people- Zach and Tyler experienced love at a young age, and they were thankful it survived what it did.
The only question that remained though, was whether or not it could do it again.
Because in the depths of the jungle, the Jurassic World still thrived, and it thrived for their trainers.
Tyler would see Echo again, and every night she lost sleep over it. Not because she wondered if Echo was safe, but because she considered the danger that came with her. Nobody was there to contain the prehistoric revolution, and one day- they would over populate.
So, hopefully Echo would remember her. If not, Tyler had to face the real question that shook her to her core and encouraged her to get stronger faster.
Who would be the ones in real danger? Who would be the first ones to go?
In summary: who would be hunting who?
She didn't know If she could hurt Echo, and hopefully- her life long companion wouldn't hurt her too.
