Taehyung opened his eyes, finding himself lying in a bed surrounded by white walls in what he saw to be a bedroom. Regaining his vision from its blurriness, he brought up a hand to wipe his adjusting eyes, fingers stopping at the corners of his lips and feeling a thick substance stick to the tips. Bringing his fingers to his face, Taehyung could make out more clearly that it was blood, causing him to viciously pull up the covers to see his body still stained with blood from the night before. Why wasn't he still at the warehouse? He's sure he passed out there. Suddenly a certain thought had come into mind which made his head spin. Where is Jungkook?! He threw his legs over the bed, quickly rising to his feet but hitting something by the first step, something hard yet soft. He averted his eyes down to find Jungkook lying face down on the floor, blood staining his clothes especially staining his stomach. Taehyung felt his legs give in as he fell on his knees and tears threatening to spill. This couldn't be happening, Jungkook couldn't have done something so stupidly as to give himself up for Taehyung's sake...right? He still valued his own life, and humans would do anything to stay alive, right? There's no way Jungkook, a human, would do this for Taehyung of all people, a ghoul? The latter somberly lifted the other boy up, placing him face-up onto the bed, taking a seat beside his resting body and allowing his tears to let loose.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook. I'm so sorry I did this to you. I couldn't keep my end of the agreement with you, and you of all people trusted me. I'm so sorry. I'm a truly horrible person- just like the others. Jungkook, I'm so sorry."
"Hnngh. H-huh?"
Taehyung brought his face up from his hands, turning to the source of the faint voice in disbelief. Slowly opening his eyes was Jungkook, turning his head to face Taehyung with an expression of utmost relief.
"Jungkook?"
"Ah, V, so you really are alright after all, thank goodness, I'm so glad." Jungkook flashed the latter the biggest smile his fatigued body could muster.
Without thinking Taehyung immediately sank down to embrace Jungkook, not minding the fact that he was basically breaking down and hollering in his arms. Jungkook on the other hand tried his best to hug the crying boy as tight and secure as he could, making it known that he wouldn't be going anywhere any time soon.
"That's it, V, just let it all out. I'm here now, I'm fine. I'll keep you safe right here, let it out."
"I thought that you were, I thought that I did, oh god, Jungkook, I'm so sorry! I couldn't protect you enough and for that I put you in danger. I thought I lost you. I thought I did the inevitable and, and, oh god." Taehyung continued to fumble over his words, allowing himself to be lulled and enveloped in the reassuring embrace of the other's arms wrapped around his trembling body.
"Shh, no, you didn't do any of the sort. Really V I'm fine, what matters more is that you and I are safe now, there won't be anything else to hurt you or me anymore."
"Jungkook, please don't leave me. Promise me you won't, I don't think- I can't lose you, I don't want to lose anyone anymore. Please, promise me."
"I promise. I'm not going anywhere, so don't worry about me. Just focus on yourself, V. I won't be leaving you."
"Jungkook..."
"I know, V, I know."
"Thank you so much."
"I should be the one saying 'thank you'. If it weren't for you I wouldn't be here."
...
"So, how exactly were you able to drag me all the way to your apartment?" Taehyung took a seat by Jungkook, turning on the TV to a cartoon channel not bothering with the selection since they would most likely be occupied in recollecting last night's cause for being at the apartment the next day.
