"It's been three days. Why isn't she awake yet?"
"Give her time. She'll come to on her own."
"Look at her . . . She's so still."
"Don't worry. Everything is taking its natural course."
"What if she doesn't make it? What if she just . . . dies?"
"She's strong and determined. Give her some credit. You'll be with her again soon, child."

The cloud of black nothingness had finally disappeared, but I was still unable to move. There was a burning in the back of my throat, but I couldn't quench it. My whole body fet as if was all just a huge brick of ice, and it tingled. Slowly, the feeling started to come back to my body. It started in my toes, then moved its way up my legs, my stomach, arms, and finally my head.
Suddenly, my eyes blinked open. I just layed there for a moment, trying to remember where I was at. Sitting up, I looked around. It looked like I was in my house; currently in my bed in my room.
A very loud pounding noise hit my ears as it came under the door and into my room. And then, there was a steady breathing sound-- from someone probably asleep and dreaming. When their stench touched my nose, I hissed. Yeah, I fucking hissed. Um . . . Okay?
When the sound of someones blood rushing through their veins came to me, I wanted it. Right then and there. I'm not sure how I knew it was blood, but somehow I just knew. I could smell it. The delicious scent that came from it made me want to drop down dead. But, it also made my throat burn even more. It was like there was a fire in my mouth and only the blood could put it out. I jumped out of bed, intending on finding out where the blood source was, when the doorknob began to slowly turn, allowing the door to open.
I could see every perfect feature on this persons body. Her hair was straightened perfectly and its blond shown gravely to me. Her crimson rose lips tilted up into a smile when she saw that I was awake. Kate then walked into the room with Carmen following close behind her. The gold of her eyes stared at me and she smiled, closing the door behind her. She closed it gently, and yet . . . it sounded so very loud.
They both walked towards me very cautiously, as if they thought I was a breakout prisoner. Their steps were silent, as if they each only weighed one pound.
"How are you feeling, Zoie?" Carmen asked.
I sat back down on my bed and watched the other two vampires in my room. "My throat is burning." It burned more and more as the seconds passed by, and I couldn't stand it anymore.
"Yes," Carmen said nodding. "You need to feed." She was right. I needed and wanted the blood very desperately right now. If I could, I would probably take a bath in it. "After you have fed, the pain will go away. Okay, mija?"
Nodding, I got up and walked my way over to the door. Carmen opened it and started walking down the hallway to the stairs. I followed her with Kate right behind me. At the bottom of the stairs, I hesitated. Carmen was waiting for me by the door that led outside, but the scent of the blood was just so strong . . . I had to have it!
Turning to go to it, Kate whispered to me, "If you go . . . you'll regret it." I saw sparks of electricity run over her body, so I changed my mind and followed Carmen outside. Even though it was very much nighttime outside, I could see everything. Every blade of grass, the small bugs crawling across the earth. The leaves and their details on every single tree . . . Holy crap, if I had glasses, I so wouldn't need them anymore.
