Alex learned that she had known Amelia her whole life. Every day Amelia would visit Alex at the hospital. She never gave up on believing Alex would wake up. And now all that hope had paid off.
Alex tried to be happy, but she was truly confused. Her frens were just hallucinations... In a dream. She'd been in a coma for 19 years, and dreamt about being a broken twelve year old.
And then Alex realized.
"I had these... Um frens... An-"
"Wait." Amelia cut Alex off. "Did you just say 'fren'?"
Alex was confused. "Yeah."
Amelia proceeded to fangirl before calming down and explaining to Alex.
They were in bands.
Alex had dreamt about real famous people that weren't even famous when she went into comatose. It was what one might call a medical miracle.
They weren't gone.
They just didn't know Alex.
And that's just as bad as being alone.
