It was quite boring sitting in bed while my friends were at school. I quickly grew tired of surfing through social media and started to fidget anxiously. School had gotten out about an hour and a half ago, so maybe I could maybe hang out with Sato and the others. However, that didn't seem appealing. I must seriously be sick because I was actually thinking about going to cram school. I missed yesterday's lessons and I would probably end up behind if I didn't do something about it soon.
Sighing, I pushed off my bed, relieved when blackness didn't cloud my vision. I wasn't going to put my uniform on just for cram school, so I just grabbed a t-shirt and some jeans. I got dressed in the bathroom, brushing my hair and teeth. I decided that I should take some meds to kick my cold, and I opened the medicine cabinet. I held onto the door and tried to reach the top shelf where Yukio kept the ibuprofen, but I cried out when pain flashed up my arm. I hissed and clutched my shoulder, the muscle beginning to throb. Good job, you over did it and now you're gonna be sore. Idiot.
I huffed and reached with my right hand, grasping the bottle and popping a few pills. Alright, time to be a model student and get to work. I treaded my way to the hidden school, biting my lip and shoving my left hand in my jean pocket. The habitual rocking motion of my shoulder while walking jabbed pain deep into the joint. Taking my key out of my pocket, I opened the secret door and found myself in the ornately decorated hallway for wanna-be exorcists.
I had missed my first classes but I could maybe make it to the end of Demon History, and of course; Anti-Demon Pharmaceutics. Tch. I decided that I should stop by my missed classes and find out any homework that was due. Pushing open the door to Ol' Sideburns class, I heard the sounds of cheering and demon growling. Inside, there were students running around the arena while their friends egged them on. They looked slightly older than me, maybe second year students.
Ol' Sideburns noticed me and walked to my side, I asked if I was missing anything and he shook his head, telling me to just be on my toes for the following lessons. I nodded and walked out of the classroom, making my way to Demon History and repeating the process, Mr. Adachi gave me my assignment and I went on my way. I had been wrong about my schedule, I only had one class left today.
I pushed open the door and familiar faces turned to meet mine. Yukio stopped his lecture and glanced at me as well. "Rin? What are you doing here? You-"
"I've missed to much school the way it is, and I'm gonna lose my damn mind if I have to stay in that dorm alone all day." I walked passed the podium and he reached out, grabbing my left elbow. The motion jarred my muscles and a cried out, he dropped his grip immediately and I pulled my arm to my chest. We stood silently for a moment, staring at each other, but he finally sighed and set his gaze to the floor.
"Take your seat then, please."
I huffed and turned on my heels, choosing to sit in the back of the class. He cleared his throat and faced the chalkboard again, continuing his lesson. I kept my left arm immobile in my lap, I was, thankfully, right hand dominant, or else life would have become a lot harder. Yukio asked a question to the class, but for some reason, no one answered. It was a simple question, someone had to know it. The teal eyed teacher sighed and answered it himself, a weird look shining in his eyes.
What the hell was that just about...? I glanced around the room at my peers, noticing some of their tense postures and narrowed eyes. Were they... mad at him? The thought jarred my mind, they had saw everything, and with such a one sided view of things, I kinda understood.
Suguro suddenly turned to me, ignoring the lesson. "Hey, are you okay?" It was the first time he'd ever truly spoken to me, and he sounded friendly. I shrugged, wincing when I remembered my wounds. He looked unimpressed by my act, "uh, yeah... did you go to the hospital last night?" Of course no one knew my actual location after I had disappeared, and of course everyone's first thought would be to seek help. Well, I kinda did, but not like he was thinking. I shook my head and he tsked, "you got shot by Kurutta Sensei and you didn't even get medical attention? Maybe you're crazy too."
