We don't live in a big town, it's really quite small, within walking distance of every thing from small family run restaurants to Evening Falls preschool and all the way through to the college where I attend, the movie theater, grocery stores etc. Even with our small town I felt as if I had been running for hours, when probably it had only been 24 minutes or so. I ended up about 1.9 km away from my apartment, away from Sky but mostly away from the hunter, of all people I fell for a hunter, "dame it !" I groaned finally stopping to catch my breath, my arm was still on fire and the blackness had doubled in size " shit, shit, shit, shit, shit !". I ended up stopping on the old bridge in the middle of the Falls, it was mainly used as a photo opportunity for tourists, the river flows out into the grand river on the right hand side and to the left was a huge waterfall that sat height above the town which serves as an optimal photo background, two rock ledges surrounds the town like a shield and tapers off halfway, Bell says it reminds her of living in a broken bolt, a wall on one side and forest far as the eye can see on the other as weird as it sounds it does make sense.
I was a mess, I was bleeding, dried up tear tracks on my face, completely out of breath, and looked like a relative of Jacob Marley's ghost for how pail I was, some people stare and others pointed, a group of older ladies passed me by offering me a hit of oxygen from their portable tanks, I politely decline, one gave me a stick of gum and some band aids for my feet while another gave me a lecture for going out without shoes, " what's that black stuff" one asked " are you alright ?", " um yes i'm fine I just .... Um..... spilled some Indian ink on my arm that's all " I said through clenched teeth, god damn my arm is getting even worse, I felt bad for lying but they bought it and went on there way. I popped the piece of gum in my mouth and looked over the railing down at the water, a flashback of Bell, Sky, Ed, Matty and I playing down under the bridge as kids came to mind and I remembered the hidden path we used to get down to the water. the 5 of us used to go there everyday after school, I would help them with their homework and they would completely ignore me, Bella push them all off the platform and into the water, it was a lot of fun. I walked to the end of the bridge jumping the railing easily and dropped the short distance to the ground, walking along the narrow path that led to the edge of the water , walking along it I reached the platform at the base of the bridge. The platform itself was wet and the water was cold as ice, that didn't bother me right now so without worrying about the fact my clothes would get soaked I dropped to my stomach and plunged my arm into the water, it stung badly enough to get a (shamefully loud ) groan of pain out of me. shifting into my halfway animal form I took my now razor like nail and made an incision just under where the silver had touched my skin, another loud groan.
Silver to any being with the word Where in the name is affected by whats referred to as the silver effect, it works similarly to a chemical burn, but behaves more like a disease. Everyone has heard that shooting a werewolf with a silver bullet will kill it, if we're being honest being shot will kill anyone from blood loss, poisoning by the gunpowder, etc, anyway but with Wheres we have the ability to heal any wound in 1/6 of the time it would take a normal human, along with incredibly thick skin, simply shooting a Where wouldn't be enough to kill, even if shot in the chest area over the hart the skin is to thick and the bullet wouldn't make it past the first and second layers of skin which are the thickest especially around vital areas. The wound would heal quickly, rendering the initial shot to be a waste of ammunition, it is unknown what chemical compound the silver is formed from causes the negative reaction in Where's, but once the silver makes contact with the skin it will burrow deep into the flesh until it hits a major artery sending the infection to the heart effectively killing the beast from the inside out. The coin the hunter used on me was an external wound, so it causes a lot of pain and the black mark, as stated earlier it burrows down into the skin, I made the cut in my arm to let the blackness bleed out of the area hopefully giving me more time to treat it better, another saving grace was that it was nowhere near my hart. If I where to be shot, it would be in internal wound and the black would show up as more of a bruise than an ink stain, a bruise that eats you alive.
Almost an hour had passed and the black was almost completely out, murky blood was starting to escape from the open wound, ribbons of the black escaping with it, my skin was beginning to change back to its natural color except for the area where the coin touched, witch now looked more like a burn. I had my head resting on my free arm letting droplets of water hit my face, I didn't realize how hot I was until it began to cool me off, drops hitting my ears causing them to twitch, my tail hung to my right side, I was getting light headed. This may be my first crush, but it's definitely not the first time I have had a mental breakdown that's caused by anxiety of being in uncomfortable situations involving other people and I would go somewhere there was no one else , and as history has a habit of repeating itself, like the last time I ran (witch to my merit hasn't happened in awhile) Bell found me first. I heard her first, my ears picking up on the sound of twigs braking over the sound of the traffic above me, some colorful language was used and then there she was, green sundress, crazy hair tucked up into a half ass-ed not and looking completely pissed off. "Sasha!" she called out " are you down....Sasha !" she screams after seeing me, she jumped down hitting the ground at a run, losing her balance on a rock and falling in the ankle-deep water, her dress was soaked.
She reached the platform and slide to a stop beside me dropping down to her knees, " Sasha! Sasha! answer me, Sasha !?" I opened one eye " yes ?" I said groggily " thank god, what happened ? why are you bleeding ?" she grabbed me by the shoulder and pulled me gently upright so my back was against her chest "I.... he... hunter.... had silver coin......did this .....it ..was.. um " I rambled out as she inspected my arm, " this doesn't look good " she said ripping her dress "what... no it...im okay... you love that dress" I said still out of it "ya well I love you more" I let out a shaky breath, blinking rapidly trying to stay awake " hay don't fall asleep on me" she said tightening the fabric around the wound and giving me a gentle pat on the cheek "i'm up" she kissed my forehead "good now stay up" she smiled down at me so I returned one of my own, but it never quite reached our eyes. "Bell ! Bell did you find him yet !" Ed's booming voice came from over head " can it Ed! look down " Bell shouted at him, right in my ear, I winced "shoot sorry " she said "its okay ". We looked up to see Ed bent over the railing to try to see us "Sasha ! What the hell Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!" he lost his grip and almost went over the side, lucky Matty and sky were right on his heels and caught him " what the hell you doing numb nuts trying to kill yourself ?" Sky lectured "looks like Sasha got that covered" Ed you jack ass.
I sat up with Bells help and she changed her position so she was more comfortable, I turned around to face her " so how did you find me ?" I asked " Sky called after you ran off and the hot stuff left, we all came to look for you, I happen to come across some older ladies that said they happened to see someone who matches your description on the bridge, so now i'm here" the ladies ratted me out " did they give you gum as well?" she blew a bubble "yup" I laughed. Ed and sky where half way down, Matty on the other hand was taking his time holding onto branches and taking it slow, everything happened in slow motion, the branch Matty was holding broke and he went flying down the hill into Sky who knocked into Ed and the 3 went top over tea kettle into the deeper part of the river . Bell and I where shocked " Christ, I think I may have blood loss, but even I can get down with more grace then that" I said and Bell sighed " an elephant can get down here with more grace" she groaned. She looked at me " you said something about a hunter " she asked me as Ed swam to the shallows follow by Sky who was dragging and panicking Matty along with him " holy shit its cold " he screeched. " He's a hunter" I said in a whisper just as the other 3 reached us "who ?" asked Matty " Mr. Collins" I said "I fucking knew it" Ed said and Sky smacked him on the back of the head "Ed shut up!"
