Ana's body lay motionless on the floor, her head cradled in Steven's lap as thick sticky blood littered his trembling hands, small sobs racking his body as he mumbled constant words of comfort to Ana's bloodstained form, her breathing stilled and her heart without a beat as her silver blue eyes stared forward, pale and void, one hand clutched tightly in Steven's, pale and small and he ran his thumb over it softly, his forehead resting against hers. " Come back, Ana, please. Come back, don't leave," he whispered quietly, his voice raspy and small as he felt hot tears drift down his cheeks.

A FEW HOURS BEFORE

Ana sat at the table of sorcerers again, her mind and emotions flaring with rage as she stared at the London sorcerer, who flinched under her cold glare as she set her jaw tensely, Steven sending a concerned look her way as he gave her hand a tight but fleeting squeeze under the table, before he brought it back to intertwine with his other hand on the table, the warmth leaving both his and Ana's fingers reluctantly. The London sorcerer gulped, his Adam's Apple bobbing as he cleared his throats, the silent table's attention already on him.

" Like I said, Mordo said to meet him in around five minutes with Steven Strange and his new friend, Ana Johnson. In the mirror dimension on top of the New York Hospital." Steven clenched his fists at the mention of his past career, and Ana bit her lip to keep from yelling out in rage. Mordo wanted to meet with them after all he'd done? The thought angered her and boiled her stomach, making it churn with a newfound malice, and Ana could see it in Steven's eyes, too, as he glared at the opposite wall, his mind drifting. Ana abruptly stood from the table, sending her chair toppling as everyone's flustered gazes turned to her, and she breathed heavily, unable to focus as she deftly marched through the door the New York sanctum and slammed it behind her, clenching her teeth.

Steven quickly followed into the door also, quietly shutting it behind him as he watched Ana pace with a murderous glint in her eyes, a deep grimace upon her face as she tangled her fingers in her hair. Steven frowned in concern as he quickly trotted over to her, hesitating slightly before he enveloped her in a hug, and she tensed instantly as they stood in silence, Steven's chin perched upon her head as she buried her head in his chest, his heartbeat fast and strong. Ana's breathing slowed to calm slow breaths as she stammered over her words, failing to make sounds. " What kind of person is he to show his face again?" she seethed, her voice dripping with long-hidden venom.

Steven gripped her wrists with his hands, her skin warm and soft against his rough ones, and he pulled her along to the base of the banister, where she gave him a misconstruing glance as he pulled his sling ring from his pocket, slid it on, and opened a portal, the red sparks flying around in a wide circle, the twisting buildings of the Mirror Dimension swirling beyond the barrier. Ana widened her eyes as she realized his intentions, rolling her fingers into fists as Steven's hands were still firmly wrapped around them. He was silent as he pulled her through the portal, landing them on a slanting building, and Ana's breathing hitched as she watched Steven remove his hands, a warm spark leaving her she didn't realize was there.

" I'm going to go and fight Mordo and end this monstrous campaign, and you can join me, or you can turn around and leave it to me. I only care for your protection, so I would wish you sit this one out, but if you want revenge for your family, then come. But do not let revenge consume you the same way it has him," he said quietly and quickly, and Ana could see he struggled to keep his voice from cracking. She swallowed the rising bile in her throat as she nodded swiftly, the thought of Steven scared of her lodged in her mind. He smiled softly, but a deep sadness lurked behind his eyes, as he twisted on his heel, the portal closing, and he gazed at the New York Hospital a few hundred feet away.

Jumping into the air, his cape carried him upward, the red silk billowing in the wind as I magically followed behind him, a firm glare set on my face for Mordo. As he skidded to a stop across the reflecting windows of the building, a masculine shadow emerged from the other side, shrouded in darkness by a emerald green robe thrown over their head. I landed quite clumsily beside him, scowling as Mordo removed his hoodie, revealing his eyes, which made my stomach fall. They were a dark swirling lavender, filled with a twisted and evil glance that made my whole body go numb, but I shook myself out of it, glancing at Steven. His eyes were slightly widened my Mordo's eyes, and his hands shook more than usual, like a ball of skin flashing back and forth as his breathing deepened.

" Why, hello, Steven and Ana."
