he remembers waking up the next morning to a pounding headache. ben didn't exactly know why for he hadn't gotten drunk the night before or anything.

or had he?

it's not like he exactly remembered what had gone on the previous day. ben couldn't recall why he seemed to be memory drained but soon enough small pieces began to come together in his mind.

from what he could piece together he remembers seeing her. her, the girl from his fathers funeral.

it was quite a strange sight to see this unfamiliar girl attend that event. but then again ben was never his father's biggest fan and preferred to stay far away from him. maybe that's why he hadn't heard of the girl before he spotted her in near tears.

he squinted his eyes shut tightly trying to drown out the pain but the solution hadn't seemed to work. the merciless throbbing of his head didn't seem to want to stop anyways.

opening his eyes once again, the world around him seemed to be a blurry spotted mess. in that moment ben's head started to get worse. he didn't know why but the pain pulsing in his head made him sick to stomach, causing him to run to the nearby bathroom to try to hack up whatever was left in his stomach from last night.

a thin sour bile was all that came from his throat and the bile stung at the back of his throat, leaving his mouth with a bad taste.

"fuck."

ben wiped at the corner of his lip before standing up to face himself in the mirror. he looked horrible. his hair a usual mess and dark prominent bags under his brown eyes.

"you look like shit ben."

the reflection didn't answer back and it's not like he expected his mirror to respond to his statement but the words were still uttered as if he wanted a response.

"that's what happens when guilt eats at you."

he continued to stare at his gaunt features for a moment longer before hearing his mother's voice echo into his ears.

"ben? are you okay up there?"

"yeah! i'm fine!" ben had to shout his response from behind the closed bathroom door and the high volume didn't seem to help his head.

maybe some fresh air would help the ache.

reaching for a small container inside the mirror he let two small orange pills fall into his palm. he quickly dropped the small circles in his mouth and swallowed in mere seconds.

ben then walked out of the room rather quickly. acting as if nothing ever happened.

it was quite chilly outside. the cold air had hit ben hard in the face as soon as he stepped outside.

he found the chilliness of the outdoors to be quite calming though. maybe the crisp air would clear out his head. also it was rather quiet and some peace and quiet could be nice for a change.

"it's you."

ben didn't have to turn around to know who the voice belonged to. it was her.

"i guess so."

"what are you doing out here?"

"that's none of your business. what are you doing out here?"

"that's none of your business either," rey simply smirked in response before giving him a truthful answer. "i honestly just felt like taking a walk that's all."

"oh."

"now will you give me an actual answer?"

"i'm taking a walk as well. just needed to clear up my head."

"has there been a lot of things going on?"

"yeah, you could say that."

rey frowned at his response, soon coming to an abrupt stop.

"oh...well i'm sorry for your loss."

"i know."

a/n: hopefully you enjoyed this chapter! sorry it's a bit late too lol i meant to have it published earlier today but i had homework which sucks. anyways this is kind of random but personally you will probably not find so much smut and all that in my books lol but to be honest i like to keep my reylo books more realistic and a more slow burn i guess. so if my books seem more drawn out it's because i'm trying to incorporate ren's and rey's movie personalities into the story and i feel like a romance between the two wouldn't be something so quick. idk if that makes sense but at this point i'm rambling i'm so sorry for the long authors note but yeah i'll try to update again as soon as i can <3
