The End of the Tunnel

Danny's P.O.V.

When I wake up, I can hear birds singing. I thought that yesterday was a dream and that I was still in the hands of the G.I.W. Seems like I was wrong. I can see the sunlight and hear the wind in the trees. It feels so good to be finally free. I can't contain the tear of joy that falls from my eye, but, when one fall, the others follow. I am crying more and more, but I try not to wake Cristal up with all the noise I do. I can finally turn human and it makes me so happy that it doesn't stop flowing. Salty tears still pouring from my eyes.

It takes me a while to calm myself down and breathe without feeling any discomfort. I just sit here for what has felt like an hour until I finally decide to leave the tent.

I decide to go explore the woods around the tent and leave Cristal sleep. She must be more exhausted than I because she used a lot of her power. I silently get out of the tent so that Cristal doesn't hears me. I look around and all I can see is trees everywhere. I look up to see the beautiful blue sky with some white cloud. My parents always told me that those cloud were as soft as a freshly washed sheep, but it is not true. They look like that but, when you touch them, you can't feel anything else than cold. Anyway. After this little thinking moment, I realize there is someone behind me. I turn around slowly and see a girl standing beside the now extinct fire. She is looking at the sky. She looks around my age, which means 17. The girl have silver white hair, a pale skin and a beautiful bluish dress. She strangely reminds me of Snow, but, she wouldn't be human. She can't change into one, right? I didn't realize I was walking slowly toward her and stop in my track when I see her turning around.

No one P.O.V.

Snow wake up some minutes after Danny. She no longer is in her dragon form because it takes too much of her energy to heal her wings, scales and skin. Her body changed into a human by itself during the night so that it can take a break of healing. The only things that remains accessible in this form is her 20 feet long wings and her tail so that she can fly and fight even in a weaker form. She get out of the tent after seeing that Danny already left. The now young girl walk toward the rest of the fire to see if she can do another one. The rests of the demon's fire aren't enough to be able to start another one with. The silver haired girl sigh and look at the sky that she thought she would never see again. At least, for longer than the time she spent in that facility. Snow can feel the ghost boy's presence behind her and she turn around to look at him.

Danny's P.O.V.

When I meet her eyes, I immediately recognize those. Those beautiful, carrying, protective blue opal eyes. "This...this is Snow?!" I think. A look of surprise, take place in my face. Snow looks directly in my eyes and till her hear on the right side in confusion. I realize I probably look ridiculous, frozen into place like that without saying a word.

  -"Um.. you ok Danny?" She ask, breaking the awkward silence that formed between us.
  -"Ye...yeah." I respond with some hesitation.
She moves closer with an expression that can only mean she doesn't trust what I said.
  -"Are you having a fever? Your face is redder than usual", she gently retorts, her hand lifting up to probably check my temperature.
I quickly back away. A bit too quickly to my own liking. Force of habit, I guess.
  -"NO! No... I... I'm just having a sunburn.Yeah! B-because it's been years since I've ever been exposed to the sun!" I explain a bit too fast, hoping to close the subject.
I can see the suspicion in her eyes before she drops her hand down.
  -"Anyway, I'm gonna do another fire for the meat I'll catch for breakfast. We're too far from a town to go in a restaurant or a grocery store." She changes the subject as she now walks away from me.

Thinking of my previous actions before we spoke, I can feel my heart racing like crazy and I feel dump to be embarrassed like that. I was only staring in curiosity, no? Why do I feel embarrassed that she caught me doing so? It's not like I have known she could turn into a human. She had never done that before! Maybe she never had the need to do so either.

I get taken away from my thoughts as soon as I hear movements around me. I observe Snow taking some staffs to start a fire."Maybe I should help her..." I think, trying to calm myself down. I begin to form a circle of rock and take away the dust of the previous fire when I just realize what she said. "She's gonna hunt an animal for me?!" I think. She eat only plants and other things that aren't meat so I know it's only for me she will do that. I stop what I am doing in shock, thinking about how I can't let her do that for me. I glance at her for a moment and see her focused, looking intently at each wood piece she takes. It's probably to make sure that it's completely dry so the fire has a chance to burn it. I shake my head, unable to tell her to let me go hunt instead. I probably wouldn't be able to catch anything anyway, right? No matter. Once Snow has her mind on an idea she won't back down from it.

As soon as that thought left my mind, I notice I'm no longer with company. I must have zoned out while Snow walked away. It doesn't last long, however, since she joins me as soon as I realized she left.

After the small but really good breakfast, we head toward a nearby road and start to walk toward the North. Some time after, we arrive at a bus stop and Snow decide we take the next one. Minutes later, we finally see a bus coming and take it. We sit in the back of the bus so that we don't get disturbed. I don't know where it'll take us, but it's surely more safe than staying in the woods. I feel my eyes closing and I try not to fall asleep, but Snow don't mind sleeping in the bus and ,when a bump shake all the vehicle, her head fall slowly on my shoulder. I smile slightly and let sleep take me. I hope this nightmare we were in for two years will never happen again.
