We returned to the cabin. The twins telephathicly knew and smiled at us. I could tell that they were hot so I suggested that they take a shower too. They took two towels and left the cabin.
Lillian dried her long hair as I shaved. We put on clean clothes and it felt good.
"Earlier, I read the menu from the diner and now I'm starting to get hungry. Would you like to join me for dinner?" I asked.
"Yes, but I won't be having anything," Lillian answered as she pulled out a red bottle and took several large swallows from it. I had forgotten that she's still a vampire.
"I've never met anyone like you. You control yourself so well," I said.
"I've never ever met anyone like you Josh Gordon. At first I was frightened of you, but now all I want to do is be with you," she said.
I couldn't help but smile and hold the cabin door for her as we walked to the diner car. The diners tables were decorated with white table clothes and a small kitchen was at the front. We sat down and the cook took my order of grilled steak and two vegetables.
I ordered wine for Lillian and myself. She gazed out the windows into the darkness.
"How far ahead of us is Count Vondrake?" Lillian asked.
"Maybe a day or two?" I said.
"What if he gets it first?" she asked with a worried look.
"If he does, he still has to get past me,"
Lillian smile and patted me on my hand and I could have sworn I heard her telepathically say he has to get past us too.
