The first week you and Tetsurou would see each other from a distance and smile. You thought about how he'd betrayed you but how patient he was being with your situation. He must really care about you right?
By the second week Tetsurou would smile at you for a second but his eyes wore the pain of separation like an open canvas. You wondered if your eyes were the same. You missed him. You missed talking. You missed touching. You missed his presence around you.
By the third week you seemed to have never seen him. You never saw him on the train. You never saw him around the neighbourhood anymore. It was like he had completely disappeared. You wondered if he'd runaway. What if he'd found someone new. What if he'd cheated again. But you were so sure that he loved you. You'd been talking to Suga. Realizing that Koushi loved you so much that he'd never been with another girl because he was so infatuated with you his whole life. You felt bad for being hung up on Kuroo who might've forgotten you when you had someone amazing right in front of you. It took everything you had to not ask Suga for help.
It had been a month. Aone had confessed that he did not tell your parents about the day you escaped his eyes and ran to Kuroo. This gave you hope for a split second that you would escape the punishment before realizing that Kuroo was no longer waiting for you. You had noticed you'd stopped calling him his first name even in your thoughts because you simply no longer felt close to him. You and Koushi felt significantly closer even through the monitored phone calls. It was like you had a friend you could trust. If only your dad wasn't listening in.
At the end of the fifth week your father called you into his office.
"You have learned your lesson. You only have a short while before high school is over and I trust you to not mess up again" he said courtly before dismissing Aone.
"Thank you" you replied with a slight bow before exiting the room.
Free. At last. You needed to find Kuroo. Even though he probably moved on and wasn't waiting in the forest you had to check. You pulled on the old sloppy boots you hadn't worn in five months and ran to the woods. You stopped at the spot you had met. He was not there. It was a Saturday. Maybe he had volleyball. You convinced yourself to wait it out. You waited for hours. He never came. You went home defeated only to find a new phone waiting for you. You remembered his number and called it. If went straight to voicemail. You called it again and it rang a few times before going to voicemail.
^hi it's Kuroo. Leave a message if it's important *beep*
^kuroo. It's me. Y/n. Um... I am no longer on lockdown. I'm free. I want to see you. Did you wait for me? This is pathetic. I'm sorry I'm so pathetic. I think I still love you. Meet me at your friend's restaurant downtown tomorrow night? Say 7 or so. If you don't show up I completely understand. But I deserve one last ounce of happiness with you. Bye.
When you hung up you noticed you were crying. He wasn't waiting. He wouldn't show up. You knew it deep down but still you'd left that message.
The next day you got dressed up and went out to meet hopefully Kuroo. You'd told your parents Suga was in town (which wasn't a lie) and that you were going to see him (which was a lie.)
You got to the restaurant and saw Kuroo's friend who looked at you skeptical.
"Where's the body guard?" He asked while showing you to a table.
"Gone. I'm here to meet Kuroo. What is your name?" You asked hoping that he'd be nice enough to reassure you.
"Kenma. Does he know about this?" He asks handing you a menu.
