The covers on Robin's bed wrinkle beneath her as she curls up on it. Her life is a mess. Why did she deserve this? Why did she deserve any of this? She had never done anything wrong, so what was she being punished for? Her mother hated her, everyone at school hated her, hell, there probably wasn't a person alive who didn't hate her.
Calmly, she walked to her bathroom which branched off of the right side of her room. A razor blade lay hidden under the soap dispenser, covered in dry blood. Silently, without flinching, she sliced her skin open. Blood leaked from the wounds into the sink, and she washes it down. Then, sliding to the floor, she leans against the cupboard under the sink and lays her head on her knees. Slowly, she falls asleep.
A dream begins in her head. She was with her dream friends sitting at a lunch table in her school. The air around them was buzzing with the conversations of her classmates. Two boys and two girls from her class surround her. They're people from school, people she admired and would love to actually be friends with. The first guy had brunette hair, a slight stubble, and brown eyes. His name is Rick, and she would never admit it, but she has a terrible crush on him. The second was blonde and a little shorter than her, in which she kind of liked too, but not as much. His name is Jacob. Katelyn is the name of the redhead who was super popular and loved to bake. Robin hated her, and wished that she would leave that friend group, just because she was massively jealous of her. Then, there is also Sydney who Robin considers herself to be a lot alike. Sydney- Syd is what everyone called her- had the best grades out of everyone. She also was the best known artist in their school. Little did any of them know that Robin was worth comparing to Syd. Her work rivaled Syd's.
Anyways, they are all sitting at a table during lunch, just talking. Rick cracks a funny joke, and none of them can stop laughing. Robins lungs begin to hurt, as do her cheeks. She tries to stop smiling and laughing, but ultimately fails and continues. Then, Katelyn tells them the ridiculous story of when her little brother tried to guess how babies are made.
"I wish I had siblings. My life is so boring. I never get to have those kinds of hilarious conversations with a little brother or sister," Robin tells them.
They look at her with harsh expressions, frowning. "Why would you ever want a sibling? That would only be torture to them," Syd hisses at her.
Then they start to taunt her; pinching her, pulling her hair, grabbing at her clothes. Her body begins to sting where they touch as they become more violent. Tears leak from her eyes and travel down her face, falling to her baby blue shirt. Of course they wouldn't be her friends. Why would she ever believe they would? "You're such a little bitch. You think the world revolves around you. Well, you're wrong. You aren't the only person who needs attention. Just shut up and go die."
And Robin wanted to. She wanted to end her life right at that moment. Instead, she curled up on the bench and cried harder. "Oh, what do we have here? A little cry baby?" Katelyn says, "Everyone, look! Little Robin is crying! Cry baby! Cry baby!"
"Shut UP! Shut up shut up shut up! Why are you all so cruel? I never did anything to you. I don't deserve this!" Robin screams at everyone, and they just laugh at her.
"You're right!" yells a voice from the crowd. "You deserve worse!"
Everyone gathers around her and pushes her to the ground. They begin to kick her. Hard. She just wants it to end.
Soon, the dream ends and Robin realizes that she is being shaken awake by her mother. Slowly, she opens her eyes, tears pouring down her face still. The dream may have been fake, but the emotions it evoked are not
"You need to RESPOND when I talk to you. You don't want to be punished again, do you? Do you! And what is THIS? What have you been doing to yourself?" Her mother grabs her by the hair and picks her up. "How long have you been doing this? HOW LONG?"
"E-ever since dad died... Everyone... has been terrible to me... ever since then," Robin manages to whimper.
"You're going to clean the entire house tomorrow. You cannot go to school," Her mother spits at her, and then kicks her.
Robin knew how awful it was to be cutting herself, but she didn't care. It felt like a solution to be cutting herself, and if her mother didn't understand that, that didn't matter. Her mother wouldn't try to stop it anyways. All that Robin would get for doing this is abuse and violence.
The wall felt cold and hard as she sat against it and pulled her legs up to her body. Nothing in her life ever went right. She wanted just to have one nice day.
