It's Not How You Start, It's How You Finish

Chapter 15

I walked into the doctors office ready to have my ultrasound. Rob was meeting me here because he had something to take care of beforehand. I checked in and waited for no more than 5 minutes before Rob came in.

"Hey babe" he said and kissed me before sitting down in the chair next to mine.

"Hi" I said trying to act like nothing was bothering me.

"You ready for this?" He asked. I half smiled and nodded my head yes. "I'm nervous too" rob said as he grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. I looked down at them quickly. Then they called me back.

"Well here goes nothing" I whispered under my breath.

I laid down on the exam table. They basically made a little bed for me. Pillow and everything. I lifted my shirt revealing a larger belly than I had just a few weeks ago. The sonographer put the blue jelly on it and started her exam.

She started off measuring things from top to bottom. Measured the head circumference and looking to make sure the baby had two hemispheres of its brain, then moving to the abdomen. Measuring the belly, finding the kidneys and bladder, then finally looking at the heart. I was relieved to find that this baby had four chambers of the heart and all the valves were in working order. No congenital heart defects seen. After she measured the arms and legs she turned to me.

"Are we finding out the sex today?" She asked.

"Yes but could you just write it down and put it in an envelope? We are going to do a gender reveal tonight" Rob interrupted. I was stunned. I wasn't planning a party? But never the less I nodded my head in agreement and turned my head so the tech could determine the gender.

We walked out of the office once the exam was over. Rob and I agreed to go meet for coffee since I needed to know the details of this gender reveal.

"Rob what the hell?" I said quietly after we sat down in his car with our coffees.

"I just wanted to surprise you. I told the guys on the team and coach that I'm gonna be a dad and they thought it would be fun to get their wives and girlfriends together for our gender reveal."

"Oh." I was definitely surprised.

"I have a few surprises along the way tonight just to warn you." He smirked. I averted my eyes as I was remembering the news the other night. Thinking about whether or not I should bring it up or not.

"Well don't let me hold you up. I'm going to go home and rest. Where do I need to be and when for tonight?" I was being distant and trying not to think too much.

"I'll come get you at 6. I have reservations for us at a restaurant" he said grabbing my hand as I was trying to get out of his vehicle. "Sam, wait"

"What rob?" I was annoyed.

"What's going on? Why are you acting like this?"

"It's nothing rob. Let me go" I said as I pulled my hand away from him and got out, slamming the door shut.

I got into my car and lost it. How could he plan something like this and have a girl on the side? A bombshell blonde might I add. I knew rob liked blondes. All the girls he had been seen with before I came into the picture were all blonde. He even dated a former cheer...ohhh. That's who that was. I finally put two and two together. He was with Camille in that news article. His ex girlfriend.

I went home to nap a little before I had to get ready for this gender reveal party Rob was throwing. My nap lasted a little too long and I woke up startled that my alarm was set for tomorrow and not today. I was already an hour behind. So I decided to just wear a dark blue 3/4 sleeve maternity dress I found at the mall a couple weeks ago. I went to get maternity scrubs as I wasn't fitting in them anymore and couldn't resist the dress.
