We spent the weekend with my mom and the rest of the gronkowski's. They had finally come around to being excited for us. Leaving them was hard. It's always hard to leave family when I go visit and even though the Gronkowski's have always been my family, it was going to be official now that this baby was linking us forever.
When I got home I had to go straight to work. Rob had been working out with some of the guys and now that I finally told our families, it's time to tell my coworkers. So after our morning meeting I took them aside.
" so I have something to tell you guys" I started as I looked at all their eyes. They looked worried.
"Are you leaving us?" Carly asked.
"Haha no I'm not leaving. At least not yet and it won't be permanent." I giggled. They looked confused. "I'm pregnant"
The ooh and ahs ensued along with lots of hugs, belly rubs and congratulations.
"When are you due?" The charge nurse Lena asked.
"September 20"
"Aww well congrats!" Lena said as she hugged me. Something just didn't feel right so I decided to wait until I could catch her alone before I asked.
A few hours later I finally got a little time to myself as all my patients had fallen asleep.m and saw Lena was in the breakroom. I walked over there and started to fill my water bottle up.
"Hey Lena" I said casually.
"Hey Sam"
"Is something wrong?" I asked
"Not exactly. Sam, I'm happy you're pregnant. I'm just worried about you. I didn't even know you were dating anyone. Last time you were seeing someone it was Rob Gron...oh" she said as she put two and two together. "Is that Rob's baby?" She whispered. I nodded smirking a bit.
"It is" I confirmed to her. " but shhh. Please. Rob doesn't need the press to get word of it yet".
"Your secrets safe with me. I won't even discuss it with the girls. You know how they like to run their mouths." Lena giggled a bit probably reminiscing about the time she dated a Pawtucket Pawsox player last year. That news spread like wildfire once a couple of the night nurses got wind of it.
"Thank you. I know we won't be able to hide it much longer but he needs time to figure that all out."
"I understand. But Sam, I'm really happy for you. I hope things work out" Lena then hugged me.
"I really appreciate that. It's been quite the relationship we have. On and off doesn't even begin to describe it. But whatever happens will be what is supposed to happen" I shrugged recalling Rob's reaction to the baby and everything else.
"You're right. If you need anything let me know" Lena said with a smile and she left the break room.
I finished my shift and left for my apartment. I was a little tired but I decided after I showered that I was going to look for a few things to make my second bedroom a nursery. Just some basic things. I wanted to wait until I had found out what the gender was but I knew I needed to get a couple things so I could start feeling like I'm embracing this pregnancy. My appointment to find out the sex of the baby was just a couple weeks away.
As I was settling in on the couch with my laptop, I heard my phone go off.
Hey you. Rob texted.
