It's Not How You Start, It's How You Finish

Chapter 12

After making Rob leave my apartment I sat on my couch and cried. I was so emotional over this whole thing. Why couldn't he have been supportive from the start? I felt like I was going through this alone. Then I realized, I needed to pack to go to see my family. I had to tell them. I didn't want to. I just knew that I was going to get a lecture from Jay and mom. But my belly is starting to show so I can't hide it anymore. Once I told my family it's time I tell work. The girls were becoming suspicious especially Lena. So I better come clean to them once I get back.

I decided a while back that I was going to fly to Buffalo and my mom or jay would pick me up from the airport. I had a direct flight out of Boston and my flight didn't leave until 4pm tomorrow evening.

Once I finished packing my suitcase, I laid in bed and turned a movie on. I must've fallen asleep because when my phone went off I was extremely startled. I looked at the caller ID, it was Rob.

"Hello?" I answered

"Hey Sammy."

"Hi Rob."

"What are you up to?" He asked.

"I was sleeping."

"Oh, I'm sorry I woke you up."

"Rob, what do you want?" I asked. He was irritating me with his small talk.

"I wanted to know if I could take you out tomorrow night."

"Sorry. I can't. I'm going home for the weekend"

"You are? Are you telling your mom?"

"Yes Rob. It's Jay's birthday. I can't hide the baby news anymore. I'm starting to show"

"Do you want me to come with you?"

"Rob, I don't know. We are not together. I don't want to give them that impression. I can do this on my own"

"Ok. When do you leave?"

"My flight takes off at 4pm. I'm heading to the airport at 1. I'll be home Monday. We can get together and talk more then." I said hurriedly.

"Ok...hey Sam?"

"What Rob?" I snapped. I was getting frustrated now.

"I'm sorry."

"Yeah. Me too. Good night."

"Good night"

I hung up my phone and fell back asleep.

I arrived at the Buffalo Niagara international airport. Still on the plane, I grabbed my carry-on and headed to the ramp. I was nervous. I was starting to show a little. Jay texted me before my flight took off and said it would be Meredith picking me up. He had some meeting or something he was needing to be at and mama was having dinner with her bible study group. I was happy to hear that it would just be Meredith. Less pressure.

As I came down the escalator I saw her waving. I noticed she had a little bump in front of her too. I walked over hurriedly and gave her a hug.

"Meredith! I didn't know you two were expecting!" I said excitedly patting her bump.

"We wanted to tell you sooner but jay told me to wait. I'm 13 weeks today!" She started rambling. That caught me off guard. I was also 13 weeks today. Looks like they got a wedding night baby on their hands.

"Congrats sis!  I also have some news for everyone. I was going to wait and tell you all together but I think I can tell you without you spilling the beans..." I pulled my shirt tight around my belly so you could see it.

"No way! Congratulations! You're going to have a gronkowski baby!" She hugged me as I looked at my feet.

"Well Rob and I aren't together anymore. But yes. It is his baby. I'm 13 weeks as well"
