Contrition

Entranced; she danced in subtle steps

above the stars and below my eyes

with delicate voice my heart she kept

Enraptured again at each sunrise

Disarming in her alarming ways

With charming flaws so flawless

and excitement in her awkward gaze

Delving into my life; an utter mess

Concentrated on her perfect smile

I ignored all the world's distraction

and hypnotized in blissful denial

Clumsily; I could not see my own reaction

Benevolent heart was hers to give

and graciously in peace she gave

without her I felt I struggled to live

Bound in adoration; her slave

Acclimated to my unrequited position

I surrendered and loved her from afar

forever living with my contrition

Attuned to any signal from her heart
