Imzadi
The currents of the life one lives
Roll random ebb and flow.
They cause the paths of souls to cross
And bring them means to grow.
He crossed her wake when both were young,
Just starting his career.
She was, herself, a shining star,
Attraction drew them near.
He'd flung a fling or two before
And all had been quite tame.
But this, the first to go so deep,
A slowly growing flame.
It seemed he was the first to wake
The heart she was to give.
And she, the first to tempt him with
A different life to live.
His passion was the life he chose
And she fit well within,
Until the tide began to turn,
Caused heart and head to spin.
She love him with the depth of love,
That let her let him go.
She named him with a native word,
Her love for him to show.
She said, "Imzadi you shall be
While ever in this life."
Then bore the parting of their ways
That cut as though a knife.
They lived their separate lives with skill,
Advancing stage by stage.
Then time and tides brought orbits near,
Once more to share the page.
Their love, from stasis, warm again,
Was instant and complete.
Their scars gave texture to the bond
That time could not defeat.
She was to him, as he to her,
Imzadi to the core.
The first to touch the other soul.
How could one ask for more?
