I Remember the Days
I remember the days
When you'd light up my life
Like a warm sun ray.
Our conversation unceasing;
Our words not freezing.
Now those days are long gone,
And the memory is to my heart
Like the stab of a knife
Deep enough to end a life
Or tear something apart.
But through it all,
And despite the pain
I'd rather walk tall
And keep clear in my brain
Those memories so dear
In the hopes that perhaps
One day we'll meet again.
Love alive despite the time lapse
And only a dim recollection
Of our sorrow will remain.
