IN THIRD PERSON
Caylx leaned her head against the boards of the barn. She let her eyes drift a little but still kept her eyes on Daryl who was now dozing a little. The bow was gripped tightly in her hand but not loaded. Normally, she avoided these types of situations but she didnt know why she caved into this one. Was it because of Daryl? Was it because of what he said? Maybe, she thought, that she was sick of barely sleeping and running and shooting scary looking people everyday...maybe she needed a break. But Caylx was still furious with her self despite the resonable explanations as to why she did them.
"Dear lord...." Caylx whipped her head to the front barn door to find a old man starring at her with his hands on his hips. He had black pants with tall rubber boots covered in mud and manure. He had on a white dress shirt under his straps and he had sweat slicked pure white hair. In her eyes, he looked like a sweet inocent old man, but these days noone was innocent.
Caylx stood to her feet starring back at the old man and sherrif as they stood there looking at her. She wasnt sure why they were keeping their eyes on her so much but then again she didnt blame them....
"We got ourselves one of those girls." The old man sighed wiping his forehead sighing.
"Scuse me?" Caylx replied confused. What did he mean one of those girls? Was there a type? Did she really fall into a category?
"Nevermind. Rick heres told me whats going on...we've lost many people in our group and could use your help if youd like to stay....but I should warn you, follow the rules, Rick and I are the leaders here. And you should know your first step outta line its either kicking ya off the barn or worse...." He said sternly lifting his head high.
Caylx knew perfectly well what he meant by "or worse" and again, she knew death wouldnt be the worst option given the world they live in but she was still determined to live even if it was in such a way as this.
"Fine." Caylx nodded at them.
"Whats your name girl?" He asked shooing Rick and Daryl out of the barn.
"Caylx." She said watching him as he went over to a stool.
"Caylx ehh? Interesting." He nodded sitting on a stool and pulling out another. The old man gestured for the other stool but Caylx shoke her head.
"Well Caylx, Could you please sit? It would make me feel more comfortable...to be quiet honest ya look a little terrifying." He smirked at her folding his hands and leaning over them
She nodded and toke a seat in front of him about 4 feet away leaning over, over hands like he was.
"The names Hershel. That sherrif there was Rick and the other was Daryl." Hershel nodded towards the door and looked back at Caylx.
Caylx nodded in response. She didnt feel like talking much....not till she really knew them anyways.
"So Caylx, been with other groups?" He asked changing the subject.
"Yeah two." She replied.
"And?" He urged her on.
"And well the first was my family...they all got bit and I had to shoot em. The other was a guy about 27 maybe. He tried to kill me and take my things....so I killed em...been on my own since." Caylx sighed looking up at Hershel to see his reaction.
"Caylx....you dont like to kill...do you?" Hershel asked her saddness coating his voice.
She didnt know how to respond to this. In fact, she didnt understand why he asked such a question!
So in response she gave him a hard stare and thought about it for a moment.
"No. No I dont. I kill when I have too. Never when I want." Caylx nodded concluding.
Hershel formed a sad smile and nodded solomly. "Good."
Caylx could tell he had expierence with something or someone that did....and that could be the walkers in general or people..
"How old are you?" He asked after a few moments of silence.
"Fifteen." Caylx said.
"Im sorry..." He said sincerely to her.
"Nothing to be sorry about." Caylx smirked barely but it was at least an emotion. If she was gonna stay with this group she should at least give a little something at first so shes not completly feared...thats what she wanted. Actually, Caylx wasnt sure what she wanted, she wasnt even sure why all of the sudden she wanted a group....or if this is what was happening. All the sudden Daryl asked her for dinner and she accepted. Mistake number one. Then she accpeted into joining a group! Mistake number two.
"Caylx...your not alone." Hershel said sadly reaching for her hand.
"Oh but I am. Always was." Caylx responded pulling her hand away.
Hershels voice contained dissapointment but not so much that she could feel bad.
"Well Caylx nice to meet you. Welcome to the group."
