Matt + Adam One-Shots

Valentine's Day

Since it's Valentine's Day...thought I may try my hand at a Mattdam Valentines fic.

Adam woke up to the smell of chocolate chip panckes, his favorite. He rolled over and grabbed his phone checking the time. It was 6:30 in the morning. At first he was confused, Matt never woke up this early. Normally he was still asleep, covered in the sheets, curly blonde hair sprawled over his pillow.

He then glanced back at his phone to see it was the 14th of February...Valentine's Day. He then understood why Matt was up so early and why he smelled his favorite breakfast coming from downstairs. He got up and made his way down the stairs to the kitchen where he saw Matt with an apron around him saying "Kiss the Chef".

Matt was busy getting the pancakes cooked and coffee made. He turned around to grab the cooking spray when he saw Adam smiling from the living room area. "Well good morning, brother bear. Happy Valentine's Day and Happy four year anniversary!" Adam then remembered today also marked the day when Matt had asked him to be his boyfriend.

"Same to you. Mmm, those smell good!" Matt chuckled as Adam made his way to him and kissed him lightly on the cheek.

They spent the morning eating platefuls of chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup and talking about things. Adam enjoyed this time being spent with his favorite person. Adam offered to help clean the dishes and clean the kitchen up, but Matt politely refused. "Why don't you go upstairs and get ready. Today I have some special things planned for us."

Adam went upstairs, wondering what Matt could've planned for the both of them. He got changed and brushed his teeth. Combing his hair, he heard Matt walk into the bedroom and peeked his head out from the adjacent bathroom. "Matty, what exactly do you have planned?" "You'll have to wait and see, Addy." He smiled at Adam and tried to hold back a laugh at Adam's grumpy face. He knew Adam wasn't much into surprises, but he hoped Adam would love the things he planned.

Matt and Adam got into Matt's car and Adam saw they were heading out of Owatonna to Minneapolis. On their way there, they listened to Adam's playlist which had all their favorite songs, including "their song". Matt laughed as he watched Adam jam out in the car to a Blink-182 song then one of Matt's own songs came on. The song "Mountaintop" came on and Adam sang along, knowing all the words and enjoying hearing his boyfriend's voice on the track.

An Owl City song came on next and Matt did the same. They finally arrived at the place and Adam recognized it as the concert hall where Matt had first met Adam.

Matt and his band Relient K had first heard of Adam and Owl City through mutual friends. He had discovered that Adam was a huge fan of their music and had wanted to meet him. He, Hoopes and some friends got tickets to see Owl City perform live when he was on tour, his first stop Minneapolis, MN.

Adam remembered having been nervous that night. He had gotten word that Matt and Hoopes from his favorite band were coming to see him perform and meet him backstage afterwards. He couldn't contain his excitement, but his nerves got the best of him. After performing a great show, Adam immediately made himself look a fool in front of Matt. He was fidgety, sweaty from the night's performance, and fumbled through his words like a kid meeting their idol for the first time.

What he hadn't realized till Matt told him on their first date, that Matt found it adorable and he realized then and there he was falling in love with Adam. Matt opened his car door, releasing him from his thoughts. He followed Matt into the venue and they made their way backstage. Adam clearly remembered every nook and cranny of the place, having performed there many times.

He hadn't realized, however, a second level above the stage. Matt led him up the stairs carefully and Adam saw a picnic blanket with a basket set up on the floor of the upper level. "Well here we are." Matt sat down on the blanket, Adam next to him.
