Rob jumped up and tried to run away, but Jerome's dad pointed a gun at him.

"This is why the US should ban guns," he smiled. Rob looked at me. I narrowed my eyes, and he stopped moving.

Jerome's dad tied Adams hands together. Adam was slumped by the wall. His gaze locked with mine, and he mouthed 'sorry' and looked down. I wanted to tell him it's okay, and that it wasn't his fault.

Jerome's dad tied Rob up, and threw him near Adam. Rob made a sound as the impact of the wall hit him.

Jerome's dad turned his beady eyes towards me.

"Your turn now," he mocked as he pulled out the ropes. "Ain't that strong now, are you?"

The harshness of the rope rubbed against my wrists, near my wound. I grimaced at the pain, stopping the tears from falling.

Jerome's dad then yelled for us to stand up. I shifted myself, and followed Adam and Rob. He closed the door. Our escape was gone.

Why were we stupid?

He kicked Adam, and growled at him to walk up the stairs. Adam, driven by fear, followed. The three of us looked like criminals marching to their death.

We were all going to death anyways. Doesn't make a difference.

He brought us to a room, and opened the door. The room was painted in white, and the floor was wooden, making weird noises every time we stepped on a loose one. The lamp hung overhead, swinging and flickering so much that I wondered why he doesn't replace the bulb. The lilac curtains covered the windows, causing the outside view to be blocked. It was dark and I could only make out the shapes of items in the room.

"I brought your friends!" Jerome's dad said in a cheerful voice as he hustled us forward to the unknown. Rob was shaking slightly in front of me.

Something stood up. Adam hesitated to walk, causing us to bump into him like dominoes. The flickering of lights highlighted his features.

"Why, dad?"

My eyes widened. We found him. But we couldn't save him.

"Jerome?"
