I stared at Jerome in disbelief.
"You do that to yourself too?" I asked. His gaze dropped slightly in embarrassment, and came back up as quickly as possible, staring into mine.
"What do you mean by 'too'?" He narrowed his eyes on me. Shit.
"I thought you were the quiet and cheerful one. Never really thought you have a dark side," I shrugged, escaping his gaze.
He just won't give up.
"Who do that too?" He demanded. I kept quiet. Jerome asked again, his voice shaking.
"You really want to know?" The lights flashed in his face, showing his determination. Reluctantly, I rolled up my sleeves. My hand lingered on the scars.
"I thought you were the popular one," Jerome commented, his eyes trailing the horizontal lines across my arms.
"And I thought you were the quiet one." We both looked at each other.
"Guess we were both wrong."
Thumping was heard from outside. He's back. Crap. I rolled my sleeves down, though it didn't cover much.
Adam and Rob joined us.
"What did you guys talk about behind our back?" Rob glanced at us. I snorted. Jerome hissed for us to shut up.
"Hey, ladies! I brought us food!" He cheered, and put the plates down.
It was freaking cabbage. And raw meat.
"Do you ever cook?" Rob piped up. Jerome's glanced up, his eyes warning Rob. He ignored it.
"What did you just say?" Jerome's dad growled.
"Your food sucks," Rob said, and to add effects, he flipped the plate over. The leaf and meat soared through the room, landing in an unknown place. Jerome's dad stood up.
"I what?!" He screamed, and came closer.
"Your food sucks like shit! I can't even believe Jerome lived through it!"
He did it.
He was at his boiling point. More than a hundred degrees. He strode towards Rob, his footsteps pounding on the floor. Rob put his hand at his side.
When he came closer, Rob lunged at him suddenly, and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife, screaming for us to run.
I looked at his plate. The knife was gone. He took it.
He screamed for us to run again. We did.
Jerome and one other person pushed towards to the door, and they scrambled towards the light. Both of them rolled onto the ground, determined to be the dominant. I hid near the door, witnessing everything.
Of course the elder one won.
"Who do you think you are?" His hand holding something. Rob laid on the ground, his chest heaving heavily. Sirens were heard in the distance.
Followed by an unplanned gunshot.
