Oh my sweet lord I had the best day of my life yesterday. I laughed, cried and everything in between I'm still so tired but I'm writing this out anyway cuz I'm feeling that post concert sadness and help me
So, I got in line for the 7pm show at 8am. Naturally.
This was the first show I waited in line literally ALL DAY. I was by myself, I had no one to switch off with. (Totally worth it, the lines for mercy were so short, bless) So they moved us around a tiny bit, first sixty got special wristbands & waiting area & whatnot, then we sat. Around two and a half hours into waiting everyone around me was starting to nap. Like lay on the ground or slouch over in their chair nap. (I felt really bad for this girl cuz a jumping spider LITERALLY CRAWLED OVER HER BACK BUT SHE WAS ASLEEP AND SO WERE HER FRIENDS & I WASN'T JUST GUNNA SMACK IT OFF OF HER) but it was pretty chill
A bit after every began waking up, some girls came around with valentines for us. It was the absolute sweetest thing, bless the clique in my area because people kept passing out valentines throughout the day. Do you know how long it's been since I've received a valentine? Let alone some of the handmade ones I received yesterday.
But, anyway, back to line. In the morning it was foggy and chilled... Then it got hot without a cloud in the sky.
I didn't have a chair or anything, cuz I was dropped off. I stayed with my grandma the night before just so I could be dropped off early cuz she lives super close to the venue. I had to use the shade of narrow ass trees that kept moving, put my hoodie over my face/half my face, and nearly die. I didn't die until later though, so it all good.
For a bit, while his friends were gone for food, this guy from the group in front of me let me sit in one of their chairs cuz at this point I had been adjusting uncomfortably on the ground for hours. Earlier in the morning I had also helped them move their stuff & asked his friend about some of his tattoo work, they were really nice.
Fast forward to around 2:30-3:00. I'm back on the ground cuz his friends have returned. Thankfully, shade is upon me so I'm doing good.
Then, we can hear it.
Josh's drums coming through the walls.
A bunch of girls ran up to put their ears against the glass, but it was almost unnecessary. WE COULD HEAR HIM THOUGH THE WALL & THEN WE COULD HEAR TYLER SINGING A BIT FROM THE JUDGE I WAS SO STOKED
It quickly quieted, though, and it was back to waiting. So, around 3ish this band from Maryland? I believe? I just remember they come from where atl comes from cuz that's what my brain linked to. But these three dudes came out and sang for us. It was nice. Lil pop punk groupie band called 3pm. I bought their album & they even signed it for me, it was rad. Then they sang the campfire song song & I knew I made the right decision of buying their album.
It was a long wait after that. Doors finally opened at 5:30 though, so woo! All that waiting, finally paid off! Thanks to being there for like 10 hours in line, I was able to run to the merch booth & get my shit quick. THEY WERE OUT OF WALL FLAGS I WAS SO SAD but I got a poster, tour shirt, and goner shirt so happy
So seat time! We were in the curve of the bowl of our venue. I was up against the wall, so when tøp came on, I could stand in my seat to see over people & lean against the wall for support.
We waited for about an hour for the show to start. The first opening act was REALLY GOOD. I recognized songs I knew from the radio and was singing along. The second act was good too, I just didn't jam as hard to as many of his songs.
Then came the wait.
Then, a bit after nine (mind you, a lot of this time you could hear Tyler lightly playing the piano & singing behind the curtain) the intro started. THAT WAS THE COOLEST SHIT EVER LIKE
OKAY SPOILERS IF YOU'RE GUNNA SEE THEM AND WANT SURPRISE
THE DOTS FROM BLURRYFACE SLID ACROSS THE SCREEN & THEN IT WOULD FLASH BLURRY'S FACE. THEN THE SECOND ROW OF DOTS W/FACE FLASH & REPEAT ONE MORE TIME FOR THE LAST ROW. THEN BLURRY STARTED SINGING AND WE WERE ALL FREAKING OUT BEFORE IT DROPPED AND THERE WERE OUR BOYS
I LOVE PANIC! BUT TØP HAD ME SCREAMING LOUDER THAN ANY BAND I'VE SEEN LIVE YET
OH MAN, WE WENT THROUGH SOME SONGS & THEN TYLER STOPS & HE'S LIKE "Well, happy valentines day." LIKE ALL SWEET AND HE HAD A LIL SMILEY SMIRK AS HE SAID IT AAHH
GO THROUGH MORE AMAZING SHOW & MUSIC UNTIL HE STOPS AGAIN. I HAVE VIDEO STILL UPLOADING TO YOUTUBE BUT HE STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE GRAMMYS. I ACTUALLY STARTED CRYING WHEN HE SAID IT WAS US THAT WON THEM THAT GRAMMY, THAT BECAUSE WE COULD NOT GO UNNOTICED THAT THEY WON A GRAMMY
IT FUCKED ME UP GUYS IM SO PROUD OF THEM & THID WAS THE FIRST SHOW AFTER THEY WON THAT GRAMMY ANF IM GUNNA CRY AGAIN HOLY FUCK
Okay okay but then they brought out their opening acts and preformed the coolest thing in history
Then, during guns for hands, JOSH'S BROTHER WENT IN THE HAMSTER BALL. TYLER WAS TELLING US BEFORE THE SONG THAT "I TOLD HIM, THERE'S NO WAY TO PRACTICE THIS, YOU JUST GOTTA DO IT. ALL I CAN GARENTEE, IS THAT I HOPE THEY DONT DROP YOU. SO PLEASE, DONT DROP JOSH'S BROTHER."
NO ONE DROPPED HIM, HE ROLLED ACROSS THAT CROWD LIKE A CHAMP
AAHH MY PHONE WENT STRAIGHT TO ZERO PERCENT FROM THE 13% I HAD LEFT ON MY PHONE SO MY RECORDING OF CAR RADIO IS GONE, BUT THAT WAS THE COLLEST SHIT. TYLER RAN ATOUND THE PIT TO CLIMB A SMALL THING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR AND IT WAS LIT
THEN, BEFORE TREES, HE TOLD US "YO, YOU HAVE OUR CONTACT INFORMATION. JUST HIT US UP ANYTIME YOU WANT US TO COME BACK. I HOPE YOU'LL COME BACK AND I HOPE WE'LL HAVE SOME NEW SONGS TO PLAY FOR YOU."
FUCK I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT HIS LITTLE SMILE DURING RIDE. HE WAS GOING OVER TO THE PIANO AMD WE WERE LOOSING OUR SHIT AND TYLER WAS SMILING LIKE A LITTLE DORK IT WAS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING I'VE EVER WITNESSED
