I finished writing one of my favorite fics today & I'm still bummed, but I also feel like some people didn't completely get it.
The whole idea ((insert MCR jokes)) of Gerard being blind was to explore the idea of falling for someone for WHO THEY ARE, not what they look like. I wanted Gerard to remain blind because he didn't need to see to know what was in his heart.
Yea, it was primary Frank's POV, & his own growing, but it was supposed to tie in with this theme of blind love.
He realized he was something other than straight. He realized that he doesn't have to be this fuck up fuckboy that he was in highschool. College is a place to reinvent yourself or even just better yourself. It's a fresh start and, thankfully, Gerard was there to kick off his fresh start with a bit of questioning to Frank's sexuality.
Gerard was accustomed to his dark world, but Frank brought a certain light to his dark.
I'm trying to get out what's in my head but this feels like a freaking English report & I'm frustrated that it won't come out the way it is in my head. ArGh
But! I just love the idea of blind love. Fall for someone from something other than their face. Fall for a voice. Fall for mannerisms. Fall for a touch. It's just something that always seems to be over looked ((pun unintended)).
So many people began begging for Gerard to see, I felt like I couldn't avoid it anymore... However, I didn't want to give up my vision for the book.
Not everything is happy.
Things don't always have a fairytale ending.
Things can always take a turn for the better, or worse.
I ended it the way I did because it's how I always pictured it to end.
You don't need to see to be happy. You don't need to fit into other people's version of happiness.
YOU MAKE YOUR OWN VERSION OF HAPPINESS!!
YOU CAN BE HAPPY EVEN WHEN OTHERS THINK "you can't be happy like that... Can you?"
