Mitch awoke with a start. He didn't know where he was. His back was sore and he couldn't open one of his eyes. He began to panic. What had happened? Why was he here. .....in a house? He wasn't lay on the concrete, he was on a sofa. He wasn't cold, he had a blanket wrapped around him and he was warm.

Then he heard voices.

"When did you find him?" It was a loud, deep voice. Mitch couldn't hear the reply clearly. Was he in hospital? No....this was a house. There wasn't that sickening smell of disinfectant, it smelt of a home. Welcoming.

"He's awake." The man with the deep voice said. Mitch wasn't exactly awake....more like delirious.

Then the man was standing over him.Mitch couldn't really make out what he looked like but he began to panic. He didn't know this man
"Hey Mitch I'm just gonna check you over." The man gently started to pull off the blanket.

"No." Mitch's breathe began to quicken.

"Mitch, I have to make sure you're ok." The man said gently.

"Where am I?" Tears started to appear in Mitch's eyes. He couldn't process what was happening. "Who are you?" Mitch began to struggle but he couldn't sit up...he was too weak.

"Mitch! Calm down." Another man came into the room and sat next to Mitch. Mitch stopped struggling and look up.

"Scott?"

"I'm here."

Mitch burst into tears again. "Oh scott, why did you bring me here?"

"Did you expect me to leave you in an alley?"

"No but...." Mitch was interrupted by a little grey cat jumping up next to him.

"Wyatt!" Mitch's face lit up when he saw him.

"So that's his name..." Scott laughed.

"Urrrm. ....Mitch? Can I check you over now please?" The other man said cautiously.

Mitch looked at Scott frantically.

"Mitch, this is Doctor Bryce." Scott explained. "Urm....can it wait till later?" Scott turned to Bryce.

"Course it can."Bryce smiled. "I'll be back at 4 o'clock. See ya."

As soon as he was gone, Mitch turned to scott. "When can I go back?"

"Mitch.." Scott sighed. "You can't expect me to just send you back onto the streets."

"Why? That's where I've been for years now."

"Why don't you accept help?" Scott asked gently.

"I have to look after myself, Scott. You shouldn't have to be responsible for me."

"Well....you're staying here until you're better and I don't care what you say."Scott said firmly.

"Whatever." Mitch smiled. Of course he wanted to stay...but he just felt guilty.

"Now, what do you like on your pancakes?" Scott smiled, getting up.

Mitch rolled his eyes. "Anything." His mouth watered at the thought.

"Coming right up."
