Mitch slowly walked down the corridors, trying to take note of where everything was. It was no use. The school was huge, most of the students were taller than him and he felt like he was the new kid.

"You'll be fine." Scott gave a Mitch a quick hug before heading to his own classroom.

"I'll be fine." Mitch whispered to himself, trying to get some sort of reassurance.

He had 10 minutes to prepare himself. He had to think about what he was going to say, how he was going to act....everything.

What was he going to do if a student decided to be difficult? They were quite intimidating.

The door opened and a short, ginger girl with round glasses came in. No time to think now; his first student was here.

"Are you Miss's replacement?" She looked up at him quizzically.

"Urm....yes. What's your name?" Mitch stood up straight.

"My name is Ashley." She smiled. It was obvious she was the typical nerd of this school, but Mitch didn't mind that.

"Well, Ashley. Where do you want to sit? Seeing as you're first here, you get first pick." Mitch liked this girl, she was very sweet.

The girl grinned and picked a seat on the front row, setting down her bag and getting out her pencil case.

"Oh, Urm. ...also, what year is this?" Mitch asked nervously.

Ashley laughed. "Year 9."

"Thank you." And at that moment, the rest of the student came in.

.....

"So." Mitch clapped his hands together when he saw everyone was sat down (there were clear friendship groups). "I understand you've been looking at classical music-"

"Boring." Someone rolled their eyes from the back of the classroom. It was obvious who the troublemakers were going to be.

"What's your name?" Mitch asked the boy.

"Max, why?" He replied, giving Mitch a death stare.

"Well...."Max", what would you like to do?" Mitch looked him directly in the eyes.

"I dunno." He shrugged.

"What music do you like?"

"Rap I guess." He had a not-bothered vibe surrounding him.

"So, why don't you make up a rap?" Mitch suggested.

"That's stupid..." he muttered but Mitch could tell he liked the idea.

"Well, we'll do classical music then." Mitch shrugged.

"No! I mean....Rap can't be that bad I guess." Max said.

"Good." Mitch smiled, satisfied with himself. "Right, all of you can choose what you-"

"Sir." I girl with red hair at the back interrupted. "Are you and Mr. Hoying together?" She smacked he chewing gum whilst casually twirling her hair.

"Urm....why would you say that?" Mitch asked, not liking where this was going.

"I saw him hug you before." Mitch froze and the rest of the class sniggered.

"Well...."

"You're gay?" Max asked like it was some sort of disease causing Mitch to flinch.

"Mr. Grassi?" They waited expenctently. Mitch searched around the room, desperate for help when he locked eyes with Ashley. She nodded at him reassuringly.

He took a deep breathe. "Yes, yes I am gay." He said firmly, he had not lived his hard life just to go back into the closet. "Is there a problem with that?" He looked at each student, directly in the eyes.

"No..." the girl with red hair muttered.

"Right, then let's carry on."

......

"How was you're morning?" Scott asked as soon as Mitch entered the staff room.

"Hard. I basically came out to 40 kids." Mitch sighed.

"Oh no what did they say?" Scott knew exactly how cruel they could be.

"They were fine." Mitch reassured him. "Once they got over the fact that I liked men, the lesson was fine." Mitch smiled . "I actually really enjoyed it."

Scott breathed a sigh of relief. "Good." He wrapped his arms around Mitch and kissed his head.

"Wait, you two are together." An art teacher interrupted their moment. She had crazy pink hair with blue streaks in it.

"Yeah" Mitch smiled. If the students were ok then surely the teachers would be. "We've been together for about....." Mitch trailed off when he saw an old English teacher at the back, glaring at them.

"Well that's just great (!)" He said sarcastically, standing up. "Now i have to work with two gays, what has the world come to?" He stared at the two and Mitch pushed away from Scott.

"Come on, Phil. Can't you just get over it?" The art teacher interrupted.

"No I can not get over it, Angel!" Phil raised is voice. "I will not go against my religion for two....of them." He avoided using more offensive words with the knowledge that it would get him sacked.

"Just leave it..." Mitch looked up at angel, smiling slightly to tell her it was ok.

"Why don't you just quit this job?" Phil hissed at Mitch.

"I-"

"That's enough!" Scott stepped in front of Mitch protectively. "You leave him alone. He is just as worthy of this job as you are of yours and you are not going to take it away from him. He went through hell to get to this point and he does not need this." Scott shouted.

"Just don't expect me to be nice to him." Phil scowled at Mitch who had his eyes on the floor.
