Monday rolled around way too fast for Mitch. What was he supposed to do while Scott was at work all day?

"Watch some TV or something." Scott shrugged.

"I don't know what anything is! I haven't watched tv in over 2 years, Scott. Plus the only thing I used to watch was Spongebob." Mitch laughed.

"Well, believe it or not, Spongebob is still on TV.  It's not just vanished of the face of the earth in the past two years."

"Ugh ok then." Mitch sighed.

"What? Do you want be to stay home all day?"Scott smirked and wrapped his arms around Mitch's waist.

"Well....that wouldn't be so bad would it?" Mitch said hopefully.

"No but, unfortunately, I have to earn this thing called money in order to live."

"I wish I could earn some money." Mitch frowned. "It's hard to find work when you don't have an address."

"Well....maybe it will be easier now, now that you have an address." Scott gestured to the house and Mitch's face lit up like a light bulb.

"Really!" He no longer worried about taking help. "Thank you so much!" Much flung his arms around Scott and squealed. "I promise when I find a job I will pay you rent and stuff and help buy food and heating and electricity and-"

"Mitch" Scott laughed. "You don't have to pay me anything.

"I want to." Mitch pouted.

"Whatever." Scott rolled his eyes. "Anyway I've got to go! I'm gonna be late!" He pecked mitch on the lips and walked out of the house leaving Mitch to. .....and empty house?

At first he felt awkward,  out of place. He didn't really know what to do with himself. Usually at this time he would be singing. Desperately trying to make some form of money. Now he felt like a stay-at-home mum without a child to look after.

But...then he pushed aside his awkwardness and decided to get something to eat. He raided the pantry until he found some crisps before settling down on the sofa and flicking through the channels. All that seemed to be on was antique shows or shows about buying huge houses in the country. It was all a bit boring.

But....

Then he found spongebob. As soon as he saw the little yellow man on the TV his heart started to ache. He couldn't believe such a small thing could bring such nostalgia. Images of his family rushed into his head. His dad laughing, his mum hugging him. All before.....all before he told them who he was. Why his parents? Why did his loving, kind parents have to turn out to be homophobic?

He couldn't let this bother him. He had to stay strong. He had Scott now, he'd survived without his parents for years, he didn't need them now. Sometimes it's better to escape from the relationships that will never treat you fairly.

......

Scott returned home with the biggest grin on his face.

"Why are you so happy?" Mitch smirked.

"What? Aren't I allowed to be happy to see the man I love?" Scott joked.

Mitch kissed Scott. "Seriously though.....why are you so happy?"

"Well. .....one of my colleagues is going on maternity leave soon and they need someone to fill her spot...."

"Yes?"

"And I spoke to my boss and.....You've got an interview next week to be a music teacher at the same school as me!" Scott said excitedly.

"What?" Mitch was shocked. "B-but I'll mess it up." He said frantically.

"No you won't!  You're great at music and the kids will love you!"

"You think?"

"I know." Scott smiled.

"Oh my God scott thank you so much!" Mitch squealed.

His life was finally looking up.
