                      ~third pov~

a week had passed since yoongi attempted to go to the next level with hoseok. he was still bitter but remembered he wasn't the only one in the relationship; he had to think about hoseok as well.

along the course of the previous week, the boys had practiced everyday for hours and hours on end. their practice would finally pay off. today was the day.
                               ---

namjoon sat quietly on the bus next to his boyfriend, rubbing his hand on seokjin's thigh. he was so nervous that in the span of the next few hours, a simple game could make or break his career. seokjin however, was confident in his team's abilities. he knew that with a whole lot of effort and teamwork, they could be the champions.

"i'm so nervous." namjoon mumbled under his breath, looking seokjin straight in the eye. the older sighed and shook off namjoon's words.

"you shouldn't be worried, joonie. we got this."

on the other side of the bus, jimin sat next to taehyung and jungkook. who just so happened to be very lovey-dovey this morning. it bothered jimin. their happiness. their affection towards eachother. jimin still believed that he was the one deserving endless love and happiness. he had been kind and respectful his whole life - when was karma going to boomerang back to him? jungkook glanced at his friend, who appeared bored and uninterested in the events about to play out. he shrugged it off, jimin was probably just tired.

the bus arrived almost exactly the same time as the vehicle carrying team exo. all of bangtan could see their faces through the transparent glass, but one boy particularly caught jimin's eyes. he had caramel hair and the cutest little nose jimin had ever laid eyes on. his eyes formed a small almond shape and his lips resembled jungkook's. as the bus progressed, jimin caught a glance at the back of the boy's jersey, which read 'byun'.

"hey!" jungkook snapped his fingers in jimin's face as he turned away from the window. "we're here, snap out of it."

people crowded around the entrance of the large arena, all of them screaming and shouting 'bangtan!bangtan!'. it made each and every one of the boys feel like an idol, so adored and cheered on. unfortunately, that didn't last for long, since the game started shortly and they had to get to the locker room as quickly as possible. the seven boys immediately started changing and headed out into the court, where crowds on the bleachers greeted them with posters and loud screams.

once all the boys were in their iconic line, a short man dressed in formal attire came out with a microphone. loud music started blaring throughout the gymnasium and the crowd got louder and louder.

"goooooddd evening ladies and gentlemen!" he screamed in the microphone. the crowd went wild.

he explained the importance of this game, blah blah blah. the boys had heard the faint introduction one too many times. finally, it was time for them to be introduced.

"everyone welcome... kim namjoon, kim seokjin, min yoongi, jung hoseok, park jimin, kim taehyung, and jeon jungkook!" the announcer said, patting each player on the back as they jogged into the center of the court so everyone could examine them. the butterflies in jimin's stomach built up as he saw 'byun' looking at him. he was dying to know what his first name was.

"now, for our undefeated champions, please welcome ... oh sehun, park chanyeol, do kyungsoo, kim jongin, kim minseok, kim joonmyun, kim jongdae, zhang yixing, and byun baekhyun!"

jimin gasped at the last name. baekhyun. he liked how well the name flowed, byun baekhyun. he had to snap out of it once again, the game was about to start!
