As the four of them ran out of the lab, they could hear shouting like, "They've seen too much!", and "Tonight we inject them to kill them". Eleven, Twelve, Alex and Ellie ran for the cabins, they made sure they were quiet enough not to alert the guards, which they were. As they entered their bunks, Eleven said, "Don't go to sleep tonight". Ellie and Alex nodded, as Twelve and Eleven went up to their bunks. To pass time till the buzzer, Alex let his mind wander to dark depths of his brain.
Alex woke up with a startle, "I fell asleep, damn it", he thought. He saw kids were still asleep, so he didn't miss the buzzer. But what Alex did see was Ellie was gone. Someone had taken her from her bunk. Alex saw a glimmer of glass in the moonlight and saw the needle. Alex ducked down as the scientist tried to stab him with the needle. Alex grabbed the scientists arm and he broke it on his knee. The scientist screamed in pain and up woke up the whole cabin. Alex quickly grabbed the needle and stabbed it in the scientist's neck and injected it. Alex knew exactly what it was; Liquefied Arena Disease. Alex ran back out the now left for dead scientists way and let him die. Eleven and Twelve ran down and stairs and Twelve mouthed "What happened?". Alex mouthed back an "Explain later". Alex had just killed a man and didn't feel guilty about it. The arena was getting the better of him, that was bad.
When the buzzer finally did go, Alex went straight to Eleven and Twelve explained what happened. "And do you know what happened to Ellie?", Twelve asked, anxious for an answer. "I have no idea", Alex said. "I suspect the scientists have taken her". Eleven and Twelve nodded. Thirteen came over without his buddies and said, "Ellie is fine, I rescued her". "Where is she? Speak!", Alex said, shouting at Thirteen. He pointed over to the dead he usually sits under and Alex, Eleven and Twelve ran over. Three, Four and Thirty-Nine was standing over her. "Move, please", Alex said, as he tried to run to Ellie. "She's healing", Thirty Nine explained. Alex sat down at their feet, he was defeated.
