The nurse came in with a bowl of fruits and a bottle of water on a tray. "That's unusual. Aren't hospital food supposed to be like, gross? But whatever, I'm not complaining," I thought.
"This isn't the usual food in here," The nurse began, "I thought you could eat some fresh fruits to make you feel better," She said with her warm smile.
"You're too kind"
She left the room to go somewhere. I was left on my own. There was nothing I could do in the hospital. It was too boring here. The only thing I could do was sleep. So I did.
-
"Ari, Ari," Someone whispered next to my ear. My eyes were barely open. "We're going home," The whisper said again. I rubbed my eyes and saw dad infront of me.
I was half asleep on the way back home and when we arrived home, I went straight into my room and went back to sleep. I didn't even know what time it was, I was too tired.
-
It was 12 in the afternoon and I was just starting to wake up. I stared at my walls for literally 10 minutes because I don't really know what to do with my life anymore. I didn't even had the strength to get out of bed. Sigh.
After 2 hours of daydreaming,(literally) I finally went out of my bed and went to have breakfast. I wasn't really in the mood of eating but I ate just to stop dad from shouting my name a thousand times from the kitchen.
I went to the kitchen and saw dad sitting on the table. Without saying anything I grabbed a bowl, a box of cereal and a carton of milk. I almost spilled my milk from my weakness.
"Hey," Dad greeted, "Are you okay?"
I didn't reply, I just ate my cereal and pretended I didn't hear him or even see him sitting opposite me.
He sighed, "It's okay, Aria. We're going to be okay,"
"No," I murmured, "We're not going to be okay. Well atleast I am. You don't even care do you? You weren't there. You weren't there when Bea was dying. You weren't there when Bea was in the hospital, dead. You weren't there to visit me. Where were you? Where the fuck were you dad? What was more important that us during that moment?" I blurted. I was angry and disappointed, I couldn't help myself. Regret started filling my chest. I shouldn't have said that. He must have a reason I don't know and I respect that.
"I'm sorry," I murmured.
He sighed, "No, I understand Aria. I'm sorry I wasn't there, I was ... busy ... busy with my business with my boss,"
I raised my eyebrow.
"If I didn't attend the meetings, he will fire me," He continued, "And if he fires me," He stopped to look up and see my face, "Nevermind, you won't understand," And looked away. His phone was ringing and he picked it up immediately after seeing who was from. He stood up and went outside to talk to who I guessed was his 'boss'.
Was what he said is true? I want to believe him as he is the only person I only have right now. Maybe he was telling the truth.
He went back inside and sat down at his seat earlier, "The funeral will be tomorrow morning. I know you're tired Ari but I'm telling you again, we'll be okay, I promise"
