Callie:
The guards had to pull the girls off of me again. They all beat me up but I was out numbered a lot of the time. I was never scared and did my best to fight them off as much as possible but for the most part I let them because I didn't want any of my privileges to be taken away. The guards let me take a shower because Bill was picking me up today so I let the water drizzle over my new cuts and bruises and scrap against my scabs.
They tell me Bill is here and I get to but on a pair of actually clothes. I follow the guards out and Bill quickly makes way to me. I stare to the women following him. She liked familiar but I shook it off.
"Where's Jude?" I ask Bill but he doesn't answer. "Where's Jude?" I ask this time a little louder. The women's eyes glommed with the name but there was no way she knew who I was talking about, Jude was barely allowed to leave the house.
"This is Lena" Bill says, "They are going to take you in for a while" My head starts spinning, trying to connect Lena to a childhood memory or even if I heard the name. "Callie? Callie!" Bill yelled snapping my out of my thoughts.
"Oh um, yeah sorry." I fake a smile.
"Call me if you need anything." Bill smiled and got into his car. I watched him as he drove off then turning to Lena.
"Shall me go?" She smiled I nod and head to the opposite side of the car and get in.
Once we are on road Lena starts. "I'll start dinner as soon as we get home" I stare out the window, still trying to connect Lena to something. Anything really. "I'm pretty sure I heard you mention the name Jude, am I right?" I continue to stare at the familiar houses and streets.
"Yeah, you heard it correct". We then pull onto a road I grew up on with Brandon. Brandon! I had almost forgotten about him! Then it all clicked. "Wait a minute," I say out loud as if all the puzzle pieces had clicked into place.
"What is it?" Lena asked, getting closer to the Foster house. "Your Lena Adams." I say stilling staring forward to the road.
Lena slammed on the brakes, making my whole my jerk and a flash on pain run through me. That was all it took to confirm my question. Lena didn't say anything but continued to stare at me as if trying to find how we know each other. I look in the mirrors to see a car coming from behind us.
"You might want to drive" I smirked and Lena drove the rest of the way in silence. When we pull in the drive way it made me think of my mom. "Is Brandon home?" Lena's eyes shine, proving she knew now who I was.
"Callie Jacob, I can't tell you how excited Stef and him will be," she smiled and continued "but no, neither of them are at the moment. Brandon has semi finals for piano". I smiled remembering the first time he played for me.
"He's still playing?" I asked as both of us climbed out of the car and entered the house. It still looked the same.
"More then ever," She finally answered me question. I sat down at the island and Lena started to make dinner as she promised. "Jesus! Mariana!" Jesus comes running down the stairs and stops dead in his tracks when he sees me. I smile and can now hear Mariana on her way down as well. She is texting and rams into Jesus.
"Jesus, what the.." She stops staring up to me.
"Is it really you?" Jesus asked and I nod with watery eyes. The twins run and give me a huge hug. We all laugh and I help set the table.
"I've missed you so much! We need to catch up like right now!" Mariana laughs, taking the seat next to mine.
"I guess I didn't think you guys would still be here!" I grin. "I thought they were just fostering you guys!"
"Soon after they adopted us!" Jesus smirked. I hadn't been to this house since my mother died.
"I can see that! Excuse me real quick!" I walk to the bathroom and tears in my eyes, threatening to fall at any moment. My eyes quickly over flow and I allow them to fall in the sink. Jesus and Mariana were beyond lucky. They only had to go to one Foster home, a fantastic one may I say. Plus they were adopted by those Foster parents! I quickly make myself stop crying and splash cold water on my eyes and dry them so they didn't know I cried.
I open the door and the wind slams it closed super loud. I freeze expecting to be yelled at but instead Lena quickly turns her head towards me and Stef takes a step back from behind her, tears fill her eyes and she almost tackles me to the ground with the force of her hug. I smoke and actually laugh, no act this time.
"I've missed you" she repeats more then I can count. She stops almost as quick as she started. "It's time for dinner" she starts to walk back to the kitchen and I follow close behind, I turn and look to where I was sitting at the table to see the one and only Brandon Foster.
"Callie," he says slowly standing up and facing me. Oh boy, here come the waterworks. "Callie?" This time more as a question. A simple tear falls from my eye and I nod. Brandon practically ran to where I was standing ad threw his strong arms around my shoulders.
For the first time since my mom was gone, I felt safe. His vanilla and cologne smell filled my nose. "Brandon," I manage out of my sobs.
"It's okay, your okay. I'm right here" his words bring a feeling over me. A feeling I haven't felt since my mother's passing. It was safety. Safety I haven't felt in ages.
