Brandon's POV:
The words came out like word barf. "Your laugh is beautiful. Callie, I'm completely and utterly in love with you". As soon as I said it, I knew I shouldn't have.
My eyes were locked with hers as I watched her take a few steps away from me. I stayed where I was while watching her, turn around and jump down the stairs to the tree house. I watch as she took off running. Then it hit me:
You don't let the people you love run away.
"Callie, Wait!" I yelled, jumping from the tree house . I chased after her, but damn she was fast. She ran to the house where she quickly sped to her room.
I run into the house and sigh. There was no point now. I enter the kitchen to see both my moms wide eyed.
"What'd you do?" My mom, Stef, blurts out.
"I told her I love her.." I pause, resting my head in my palms.
Lena looked up from her paper work. "Stef, can you give us a minute?" Her eyes wondered from her to me. With that, she left the room, leaving Lena and I.
"What's up?" I raise an eyebrow, giving a slightly curious look.
"Brandon, I just have to ask one question".
"Go ahead," I look Lena in the eyes, knowing the question would have to do with Callie.
"Why do you love her? Or why do you think you do? I know what a great girl.." I interrupt her before she gets the chance to finish.
"She's more then great. She's perfect.." I pause, gathering my thoughts. "The way I can tell her anything, from a stupid joke to something extremely deep and personal. She helped expand my comfort zone. I can be myself around her. Her smile and laugh are amazing and incredibly contagious. The way her eyes light up when she talks about something she loves, or the way her nose curls and frames her face perfectly. People talk crap about her at school and I can't help but defend her because I know who she really is. She has a soothing way of just letting you know she's there if you need anything at all. She doesn't get mad if you wake her up at two in the morning for something stupid. The way she rubs her hands together when she's nervous, or how her tone of voice changes with different topics. Her flaws became something I loved instead of hated.." I give a small laugh, "That was extremely cheesy, wasn't it?" My eyes lift from my hands to Lena and I see tears in her eyes.
"That was beautiful, why didn't you tell her all that?" Lena's bright smile shined.
I give my nervous laugh. "Because she doesn't love me back.." I force back my stutter. "I'm just her best friend who sounds like an idiot".
"When your with her, your the person you really want to be?" Lena must of knew exactly how I felt because her questions described it pretty well.
"More than anything".
"You know technically, your not allowed to have a relationship with your foster siblings". Lena finally broke.
"I know.. I've been told". It was true and I hated the idea or even the thought of Callie being anyone but mines but I just wanted her to be happy. "I just want her to be happy".
At that moment, I hear her door close and her light foot steps on the stairs.
"Brandon, we should talk," Her tone was almost emotionless. It scared me. She leads the way to the back poach and I take a seat on one of the lawn chairs.
"What is it?"
"I can't do this, any of it. I can't afford to get Jude and I kicked out of the house. We need this."
"Callie, I know that. I just.." I couldn't find the right words. "I just want you to be happy".
"Even if it's not with you?" Her voice was still emotionless.
A lump grew in my throat. I wanted nothing more then to be the person who makes Callie happy but if it wasn't me, I'd have to accept that. "E-even if its not.. m-m-me". My damn nervous stutter.
AN: Super short, I know. I suck.
This part was crappy and kinda sad.. I'm sorry!
Everything Brandon said in this part, I had to do or say this past week.. and it hurts.
